You shot yourself in the foot by not supporting BIP-110 - Claiming there's no consensus on it is a lie, one in four nodes is a Knots node.
There's nothing conservative about taking a permissive attitude to spam, that's cavalier and reckless. Since you seem to criticize this very feature of Bitcoin core development, why aren't you joining the fight to fix the issues this caused?
I can't see myself running this node unless your stance on spam improves. Repeating core talking points in your announcement does not bode well.

I'm not that familiar with Liquid but a 40 byte OP_RETURN sounds fine. That's a standard transaction pre-v30 and would still be valid after BIP-110.

Correct. To be precise I should have said I'm willing to tolerate some data on the blockchain as long as the footprint is small enough that it's negligible.
Even BIP-110 does not aim to eliminate all forms of data carrying on Bitcoin, just the most harmful ones. Up to 80 bytes OP_RETURN is still possible afterwards for instance. Taproot assets are on the same order of magnitude AFAIK.

The main reason nobody's talking about them is that AFAIK nobody uses them either. Most shitcoiners gravitated to their own solutions for muh tokens.
Personally I also don't really care about shitcoins on second layers like Lightning. As long as you're not making my node store it you're only harming yourself by using them. 😏

It doesn't: Merely writing a full node client or a fork doesn't give anybody control over anything. People need to voluntarily download and run the code in order for it to matter.
If BIP-110 succeeds that would not indicate Ocean mining or whoever hijacked Bitcoin, but that their vision of what Bitcoin is has wider legitimacy than core's does. I personally think that is the case, but let's see.

This would make sense to me because I know the ECB has frequently sold the digital euro as a way to make financial infrastructure independent of US companies.
If you really meant to put "individuals" in that sentence I don't follow your reasoning as I don't think Lagarde has ever expressed much interest in individual financial sovereignty. For European nations certainly, but individual Europeans not so much.

I'm not an expert on this but I know Linux Mint uses APT as the package manager - How APT does things is that each repository has a GPG key that signs each package. The repository itself is imported from a list embedded in the OS. So you really don't need to verify signatures in normal operation. You should mainly do it when downloading the OS itself and making bootable media since this is the start of the trust chain.

To be fair he did not 100% call the bear market early, he's never completely definitive about what Bitcoin will do. But he did spend a lot of time discussing a bear case and assigned higher and higher probability to it in the latter half of last year.

I think this market might be a bit more retail driven than you give it credit for. There may not be that much new people coming in at the moment but most of the existing Bitcoin is still owned by long term hodlers. These guys are with few exceptions retail, not institutional.
LTH's cashing out some of their stack during last summer to autumn materially contributed to dampening and then ending the bull market. This was clearly visible in I.E on chain revived supply.
It's also unlikely to be a coincidence that the bear started at exactly the same time as Core v30 releasing, basically to the day. This was the instigating incident of this bear IMO.
So in summary I think you're probably correct in what drives institutions, but retail still mattered a lot in this last cycle because they were the marginal seller.

I pay for Pro - It's great! I greatly appreciate the privacy benefits over OpenAI and others. There are a lot of stuff I just wouldn't use OpenAI for that I can use Maple for.
They recently added Kimi-K2, it's a really capable AI model and can handle really complex questions well. I think it's actually the best AI in use at the moment.
With that said the UX is a bit worse than OpenAI, you lack some (for me) nonessential features like images. Document upload is a bit wonky, you can only do it in the app not on the website due to some quirk of how their E2EE works.
Overall would strongly recommend for Q/A and research tool use, they're as good as anything now on this, and with privacy to boot. If you're doing a lot of media/document work maybe less recommendable.

Hard disagree on stacking sats: If you cherry pick your time period bear to bear you can always make Bitcoin's CAGR look bad. I remember in the 2022 bear 4 year CAGR was actually negative at one point. Nobody actually has that CAGR if they DCA though.
For example as a personal anecdote my current CAGR since my first buys early 2021 is now 17%, it was more like 30% before this recent correction. Nothing else can pull these numbers just as a buy and hold strategy.
In theory you could maybe have bought i.e. Palantir at IPO and outperformed this. But realistically with retail availability and without the benefit of hindsight for stock picking there's no way.

As an alternative to BIP-444 it would just reduce the max size of OP_RETURN to 83 bytes by consensus. Unlike BIP-444 it's permanent, not temporary, but it does not address any other form of spam / data carrying on Bitcoin. (I.E inscriptions.)
My 5 sats: I'm a bit uncomfortable with some aspects of BIP-444: It being a expiring soft fork is a first, and I don't like novel changes. The reactive activation scares the shit of out me. This change is a lot simpler and less risky.
On the other hand it will not solve the spam problem - Main thing is Inscriptions are still in after this hypothetical fork. So this seems a bit insufficient in that regard.

PSA: This is shit advice and a good way to lose all your Bitcoin. There likely will not be a (long lived) chain split regardless of what consensus wins, since this is a soft fork. There could be, but it's not guaranteed.
If you try to trade a "airdrop" you may just find the chains reorged and you sold all your actual Bitcoin, according to both clients. You have been warned.
