If users just want a high quality lurking experience, they only need to identify one high quality account they are interested in “follow the person” and could bootstrap off of that first person’s web of trust.
And I suspect there will always be well known curated lists of popular nostriches. Pick any group of npubs from that list and now you have a social feed to watch.

If an npub has no follower from within my ‘n’ degrees of followers, why am I ever seeing it in my Nostr client?
Is this just a compute problem? If so, let’s start running DVMs to solve this.
Does such a simple solution not work?
Let’s say you are brand new to Nostr. For you to get connected, you’d need to:
1. post a few high quality notes (anything that’s not spam)
2. follow people you like
3. wait for one npub who has followers to follow you.
As soon as 3 happens, you’re good to go. If a spam account gets past this part, you just need a few people to report them and then your client shows you that should be skeptical of this person.
The question then becomes, how do you find new people to follow when there is a flood of potential fake profiles waiting to be discovered alongside new real people?
Best case solution, you meet anyone in real life who has a Nostr account and they follow you.
Worse alternative is bootstrapping from legacy social media.
There will probably be markets in the future selling you access to Nostr networks (pay me to follow you and add you into my WoT). You could be anonymous this way.
Maybe AI search tools will be able to pick out some authentic profiles just by the content they post.
Moral of the story is - the incorrect solution here is to KYC or scan eyeballs for “proof of human”.

Ran into a bit of a problem where my sim stopped working on my phone out of the blue while traveling overseas. Freaked out at first but then remembered about silent.link; within 10 minutes I got a new esim paid with sats that got me data so I could move around the city, catch a bolt to the airport, and stay connected when there wasn’t wifi.
Highly recommend!

If you are comfortable with python you can check out nostrdvm, the basic protocol is pretty simple so you can also write it from scratch, especially in a language that has Nostr sdk bindings. You just need to listen for the job request kind (5xxx), offer a status update events (kind 7000) like “processing”, etc and then submit the job when you are done with the matching kind 6xxx result event.

At least on Nostr, if a video is posted from someone and then it's shared again, I know it's been cryptographically signed as coming from that person.

It might depend on the use case and which DVMs you are using. When you say “send by the client” do you mean broadcasting a kind 5000-5999 event, vs say DM’ing the DVM directly?

when you say kind definition, do you mean they are defined in the job request event (kind 5xxx)?. Am I correct in understanding that there is no global 'params' structure per kind? The way nostrdvm does it is that in a DVM's nip-89 announcement, that DVM specifies their 'nip90Params' right?

I just want to confirm this. It's a huge plus for the protocol if DVMs define their own params and there is no global definition that is forced upon everyone.
I'm bringing this up because other decentralized AI approaches have tried to force input / output structure of ai services

If you develop a novel piece of code that solves a problem in your tech stack, be it a personal project or at work, consider commoditizing it by turning it into a DVM.
Better yet, with @npub1nxa…a6q8 ‘s nostrdvm library (or doing it yourself) you can whitelist your npub so you don’t get charged, but if others want to use it, they can pay for it.
Either way you’re going to be maintaining that code cause it’s in your stack right? Make some extra sats

It would be cool if we could visualize github NIPs as conversations, so all the pull requests and comments could be ordered chronologically, and it would be easy for someone to skim a nip from past to present and see everything.
The problem with the history tab for a single NIP is that it doesn't show the content of the commits or any comments from PRs, etc.
I guess that doesn't solve any conflicts between proposals / suggestions though...

I’m working on a project that will compute stats over all DVM activity (how much they make in sats, response times, all the different tasks DVMs are doing) and I’m very close but haven’t formally launched it yet. My current estimate is that DVMs have been called around 22k times and have earned roughly around 100k sats. But soon you’ll be able to check yourself with this tool.

Drafted the full outline of my Superintelligence talk for #Nostriga (currently at 25 slides, but I expect that to increase a bit).
Started writing the longest DB query of my life to compute stats over DVM data. One of the last steps before I announce v1 of this project I’ve been working on for a while. It’s been fun to dive deep into databases. The Mongo query language is powerful.

If you have tried using LLMs to generate and execute code, you might appreciate this workshop paper we presented at @ ICML workshop on LLMs and Cognition. The primary contributions are 1) a Case-Based Reasoning approach to reducing LLM failures via dynamic, few shot prompting and 2) seven failure types that can cause generated code to fail. These failure types are more detailed than most benchmarks that evaluate LLM code generation; and since we didn't have an automated way to check for all of them, we performed the evaluation by hand 😅

Are KINDs distinguished by their structure? If I turned an event for an arbitrary KIND into a graph where the graph structure matches the JSON structure, and the data types of nodes were colors, could I get a unique graph for each KIND?
What if there was a tool where people can see if there is already a KIND that exists for them or if they need to create a new one. The tool would just pull as many different kinds as possible from relays, and you could take an example event and compare it against all existing ones based on structure and data types of nodes. It could remove the need for any single global list of KIND events, like the Nostr NIPS repo.
I'm particularly interested as we have many more DVMs come into play and when someone wants to make a new DVM, they will need to decide whether to use an existing KIND or create a new one.
