the prevailing discourse around bitcoin’s future demand centers on a familiar cast of actors. nation states building strategic reserves, sovereign wealth funds diversifying away from fiat exposure, and corporations adopting it as a treasury asset. these are all human institutions operating within human timeframes subject to human politics.
but there’s a far more profound demand shock that almost no one is discussing: autonomous ai as an economic agent accumulating btc.
ai’s rapidly moving from tools that humans direct to agents that transact independently. negotiating, purchasing, allocating capital and optimizing for objectives with minimal human oversight. these systems will need a settlement layer that is permissionless, censorship resistant, programmable, and not subject to the counterparty risk of any single government or banking system. they won’t open chase accounts. they won’t submit kyc documents. they’ll gravitate toward the only truly neutral, global, natively digital monetary network that exists.
bitcoin isn’t just sound money for humans. it may be the only money that makes sense for machines.
every prior model of btc adoption assumes a human decision maker somewhere in the loop. a treasury committee, a central bank governor, a fund manager, a big family office, etc... but ai agents optimizing for long term value preservation will arrive at bitcoin through pure economic rationality unburdened by political ideology, institutional inertia or career risk. they won’t need to be convinced. they’ll simply calculate.
unlike a sovereign wealth fund that allocates 2% and revisits the position quarterly, an ai system operating continuously across global markets could accumulate relentlessly around the clock with a time preference approaching zero. not as a speculation but as a logical necessity for self sovereign operation in a digital economy.
the question isn’t whether ai will accumulate btc. the question is what happens to a fixed supply asset when a new class of demand emerges that is non-human, never sleeps, and compounds its own economic agency exponentially.
everyone is modeling the next buyers as institutions. but almost no one is modeling the possibility that the most aggressive accumulators won’t be human at all.

here is where we are currently most of these stuff is basic quantum knowledge and you dont have to be expert to understand how close we are to a post qunatum world. google willow105 physical qubits. distance 7 surface code
Is 0.143% logical error per cycle. ibm heron156 physical qubits. ibm’s most ambitious near term chip kookaburra links three modules for approx 4k physical qubits in total. their starling system targets about 200 logical qubits on 10k physical qubits by 2029. blue jay aims for 2k logical qubits by 2033. even if ibm hits every single milestone on schedule which has never happened in the history of quantum roadmap, 2k logical qubits by 2033 is still below the conservative threshold for secp256k1 and doesn’t even account for the millions of physical qubits those logical qubits actually require at cryptographically relevant error rates.
the gap isn’t just about qubit count either. there are at least four independent exponential barriers.
A) qubit scaling going from 100 to millions of physical qubits while maintaining connectivity, yield
and fabrication quality across massive cryogenic systems cooled to 15 millikelvin.
B) current two qubit gate error hover around 0.1 to 1%. fault tolerant computation for shors against ecc needs something closer to 10⁻⁶ to 10⁻⁸ or roughly 0.0001% to 0.000001% sustained across every gate in circuits billions of operations.
C) you would need qubits to stay coherent for the entire duration of the computation. current superconducting qubits decohere in microsecs to low millisecs. shors on secp256k1 requires hrs of coherent runtime. error correction theoretically handles this but only if your correction cycle is faster than your error accumulation rate which circles back to needing insanely low physical error rates.
D) quantum error correction isn’t just about quantum compute. you would need classic hardware decoding syndromes in real time faster than errors propagate. doing that at the scale of millions of qubits simultaneously is an unsolved engineering problem.
each of these is a separate research frontier which haven’t been resolved. progress in one doesn’t automatically transfer to the others. you can have a million qubits that are too noisy. you can have ultra low noise qubits that you can’t manufacture at scale. you can have both and still lack the classic control infrastructure to orchestrate them.

breaking bitcoin requires shor’s algo on a fault tolerant quantum compute and that’s insanely far away.
you would need ~2,500 logical qubits to break a single secp256k1 key. with error correction that translates to millions of physical qubits plus ultra low error rates around 10⁻¹⁵ and hours of coherent runtime.
today we have ~1,000 physical qubits. high noise, short coherence and zero fault tolerant sys. the gap isn’t even linear its multiple exponential jumps in hardware, error correction and control.
even with very optimistic scaling, you’re looking at at least two to three decades before a machine like that exists. long before then bitcoin and the rest of the internet, banks, governments, etc would migrate to post quantum cryptography.

watched boston dynamics’ new atlas for a few mins today. human evolution took about 2m yrs from homo habilis to now and it’s still an ongoing process. meanwhile these robots basically started a few yrs ago and are already pulling off incredible hand movements and hands are the hardest part. replicating hands means solving high dof control tactile sensing real time feedback loops and motor precision all at once. kinda wild to think where they’ll be in 20/30 yrs with ai accelerating exponentially.

a very simple theory yet it cuts deeper than most people realize. bitcoin’s outcome’s binary. either it trends toward infinity or it collapses to zero. most likely it won’t go to zero and it won’t ever be replaced because any successor would inherit a fatal flaw the moment it’s born. if you can replace money once, you can replace it again, and that destroys all trust, so it’s not about a better tech. hal articulated this very nicely. whats unique about bitcoin is that it has solved that final coordination problem which is the biggest challenge of getting the entire world to agree on a single digital monetary standard that no one can change, no one can remake, and no one can reset. the path is basically one direction.

tech deflation exists but it never reached escape velocity. pc hardware, software and bandwith got cheaper but none of it fundamentally rewired the entire economy’s labor structure. governments could outprint the deflation because productivity gains were always linear, not exponential. with ai prrhaps for the first time, productivity could compound faster than money creation.

the relationship between bitcoin’s production cost and price floor is one of the most underrated dynamics. when you look at the data, there’s a clear correlation. every time mining difficulty doubles, the estimated production cost increases by roughly 33%. this isn’t random, it’s basic economics playing out in real time.
think about it like any other commodity. oil, gold, copper, etc… they all have production costs that act as gravitational floors. when price drops below cost of production, miners shut down, supply contracts, and the price finds equilibrium.
bitcoin works the same way. the hash price (revenue per terahash) essentially sets a baseline. miners can’t operate at a loss indefinitely. they capitulate, difficulty adjusts down, and suddenly the remaining miners are profitable again. and in contrast, when price rises on global liquidity or other factors, more miners come online, supply expands and the system naturally absorbs the new demand. this creates a natural support level what makes bitcoin unique. you can literally watch the difficulty adjustments every two weeks and can calculate the approx. cost per coin based on electricity rates and hardware efficiency.
the game theory is right there in the open. historically bitcoin has never traded below production cost for extended periods. it might wick below during capitulation events but it doesn’t stay there. the miners won’t let it. so when you see difficulty climbing and hash price compressing, you’re watching the network reinforce its own value floor in real time. each difficulty adjustment is the market discovering what bitcoin is actually worth to produce and that becomes what it’s worth to hold.

bitcoin outgrew the retail 4 year cycle story. it now acts as a global liquidity valve that only happened to line up with a 4 yr rhythm in the last three halvings. that pattern’s gone. from now on it sniffs out liquidity first and reacts in both directions. as new coin production keeps shrinking in the coming yrs, that barometer only gets sharper at measuring global liquidity.

pretty disappointed with the whole core vs knots drama. just feels like a lot of immaturity on both sides. everyone agrees on the main idea that bitcoin is money and nothing else but when it comes to actually living by it, we all fall short.

the biggest customer segment for hardware wallets are people holding less than $10k in bitcoin or crypto overall. if a significant portion of your net worth is in bitcoin, you’re not swapping out your hardware wallet every few months like a toy. these companies keep releasing new versions of their wallets every few months mainly to attract small holders and new buyers who have no clue, not long-term bitcoiners with serious net worth in btc who actually care about security and consistency. almost like a scam.

bull case for stocks: apple up 4.5% today not just from iphone sales hype. their chatgpt rival called “veritas” is about to drop soon. currently employee only and hearing it’s insanely good. if that’s true, apple could drag spx to 7500 within 6 months. its current weight is 6.4% of the whole index. 🍏
