Well that's fun and cute - my 5th grade elementary school's website is in the Wayback Machine! Not quite the oldest 1997 version that I helped create, but I believe that tiger tail drawing is my work and I spotted my name in a photo credit. Thanks for the trip @npub1umd…wfr7 :)

Got really lucky today when the gentleman at my local electronics recycling kindly allowed me to pull this 5.25" floppy drive from a junked PC.
Any tips regarding cleaning and attempting to install it in my Win98SE machine? It's a Panasonic/Matsushita JU-475 circa 1991.

Can you elaborate on "Mac OS 9 (Patched)"? I got really excited at the idea of a Mac Mini running on OS 9, but everymac.com reported it would only do Classic emulation under OS X.

I understand why it's happening but it sure is annoying having to put up with constant 'verify you are human' checks from Cloudflare when I use a VPN, or uBlock, or all of the other tools I have in place to stop people from looking over my shoulder. Esp. when it just completely prevents me from accessing a website.

First I'd like to ask which partners you are referring to, maybe I'm missing some info there. But what I'm suggesting is that "freely distributed against their will" and "opened the floodgates" is an exaggeration that likens CDL to posting a torrent on The Pirate Bay.
IA offers 1-hour access to web-only reading of books, and some titles they offer encrypted ebook versions that can be borrowed for up to two weeks before they no longer work.
I know that their thought process was "We're a library offering time-limited DRM borrowing, and a ton of other libraries' copies just got made physically inaccessible by lockdowns, so let's temporarily remove our waiting lists to help make up for all of the people losing access to their local libraries." You could say that's a flawed legal argument, but personally I don't think it's equivalent to IA "stealing copyrighted works and redistributing them without authorization."

It seems like you're saying they are being hypocritical, but I think the mentality is specifically that tech corporations steal *and sell* author's works with no repercussion, while a library whose intended purpose is to archive and offer access to that archive is being punished for effectively removing waiting lists for time-limited loans (when hundreds of other libraries were physically unable to offer access to their own copies.)

I'm so baffled... In 37 years across at least the Western U.S., I have only ever heard them pronounced "too-ur" and "fore". What's the rhyming version? Is it "tore and fore" or "too-ur and foo-ur"?
