A Model to Find the Most Average NBA Player
https://youtu.be/0I2T0R91G38
> Who is the most statistically average player in the NBA?
> Not the 250th-best player. Not the most mediocre player. I wanted the player who sits closest to the actual center of the NBA — physically, statistically, stylistically, and everything in between.
> So naturally, I built an unnecessarily complicated system called B.A.S.I.C. — the Basketball Averageness Similarity Index Calculation.
> We start with a horribly broken definition of “average,” then progressively make it worse by adding:
- Player size and age
- Playing time and role
- Per-possession production
- Efficiency
- Shot profile and play style
- Offensive and defensive impact
- Correlation adjustments
- Mean vs. median
- Thousands of randomized definitions of “average”
> Until eventually, one player refuses to stop being normal.
> And because apparently that wasn’t enough, I also used the results to construct the literally average NBA player: John Basketball.
> All of this work to scientifically discover the role player.
> Fantastic.
Fun modeling exercise. @SimpleStacker and I feel your pain.

Nearly Half of Americans Support Arresting Netanyahu | The Libertarian Institute
https://libertarianinstitute.org/news/nearly-half-of-americans-support-arresting-netanyahu/
by [Kyle Anzalone](https://libertarianinstitute.org/author/kanzalone/ "Posts by Kyle Anzalone")
> Just under half of Americans said they support US law enforcement arresting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes committed in Gaza.
> A poll conducted by The Economist and YouGov released on Tuesday shows that a plurality of Americans want Netanyahu arrested. [When asked](https://us.list-manage.com/N3oBs05xxQX?e=4d47a68367&c2id=463bd5c50167a1cae0da73e9eb4f7b0a), “The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu. Should the U.S. arrest Netanyahu if he comes here?” 49% of Americans responded “yes,” more than double the number who said “no.”
> Over two-thirds of Democratic voters and 55% of independents want US law enforcement to arrest Netanyahu. Even among Republicans, only 49% said they did not want Netanyahu arrested in the US, while 20% want the Israeli leader apprehended and 31% responded they were “not sure.”
Those numbers would have been radically different just a couple of years ago.

It was started before nostr was a thing and they’re building integration. I believe further integration is on the devs roadmap.

What if The Dinosaurs Didn't Go Extinct
https://youtu.be/8Gh2gycaavI
> 66 million years ago, a giant asteroid hit the Earth and wiped out the dinosaurs. What if it had missed? Would a highly intelligent species like Homo sapiens still have evolved— or would evolution have gone off in a completely different direction? Another 66 million years of dinosaurs may have failed to produce intelligent tool users because dinosaurs and mammals had different evolutionary constraints and pathways open to them. But it's also possible that the asteroid impact pushed evolution in a fundamentally new direction, altering the selective pressure operating on species, and favoring the evolution of intelligence. Even so, it may be a fluke that we're here.
