Sort of true in principal - if no one has faith in their currency then it will have no value and no one will use it. But as long as some people value it, and banks have the magical power to fraudulently create customer deposits out of thin air, it’s pretty easy for a few banks to collude and create a flywheel of credit creation building up each other’s reserves with the other’s loans. It was this sort of behavior that kept crashing the currency before the Fed and was used as the excuse for a central bank. Just ending the Fed isn’t enough. You can argue that without removing their ability to create deposits they will devalue the currency into oblivion. The central bank serves a role of limiting this potentially infinite expansion, but really only directly addressing the root of the problem, which is that every single bank loan literally creates customer deposits out of nothing, then the currency will continue to be used as a tool of fraud and enslavement.

After what I wrote above, I used Bull some more and realized that there are two phases - it seems like there’s an initial Lightning payment and then there’s a delay while the liquid swap completes. So it’s possible I was mistaking the swap duration for the Lightning payment. I’ll need to watch it a bit more.

After using bull wallet a bit as well as Phoenix and strike, I must say the longer wait for lightning payments using bull has me using the latter two more. I just don’t think the longer time it takes to swap from liquid is worth the benefits. Every millisecond counts in the instant payment experience.

What about removing the power to create deposits from the banks? With that power they can just buy all the Bitcoin with a flick of the pen. They did it to gold and are doing it to Bitcoin.

There appears to be something off with the income vs expenses data of the countries at the Burundi end of the tables. For example in Burundi it claims that avg expenses are $11,140 vs avg income of $260. That makes no sense on the face of it, and the website does not cite its sources for its data so there’s no way to see how it’s arriving at those numbers.

Yes that’s great that you see it. A mistake I see a lot of Bitcoiners making is thinking it’s just the government or central bank that’s printing the money. What makes it far more difficult to talk about is that literally every single bank loan any of us has received involved money printing. This being the case makes is more difficult to communicate about without sounding like a nut.

This is how I see the modest little house I inherited that is old and needs work to maintain, the garden too. I need a wife who is willing to partner with me in this endeavor. It seems like too much to do on my own, and is not rewarding enough if it’s just for my self. But I could see my self doing it in service for a family, for the kids.

Actually every single bank loan is credit creation. This is the big open secret and also the much bigger problem with Stamp’s challenge. Ending credit creation means changing how every single bank in existence treats loans on their books.

I think the massive budgets for civil servants and even the degree to which there’s enough money for such massive tax rates to pay them is a result of the banking system printing so much money, so if we end that there just won’t be the excess of supply to make it feasible for taxes to pay civil servants. If the civil system is ended but the bankers can still print endless money they’ll just put the system back in place. I’m just not sure using bitcoin is enough without ending the bankers’ credit creation power. But maybe you’re right that ending the civil servant system would need to happen at the same time. Are there no examples of public service you find valid? What about the most commonly cited one of county, state, and federal roads and highways? You’d rather they all switch to private toll roads with multiple payments every time you drive? I’m imagining your car automatically making lightning micropayments as it drives across dozens of privately owned and operated roads. What if one of them decides they won’t allow you to drive on it for some arbitrary reason?

But most civil servants I know personally do work very hard and are very devoted to doing their best to serve us, we the people. I think villainizing civil servants is massively missing the real culprits in the debt based money system, which are the bankers. They literally print money out of thin air and use it to take ownership of the earth and all assets whether productive or not. There will always be some form of organized public service, but it will only be as integrous as we the people are. First things first, end the ability of bankers to create money and buy up all assets. If we don’t, they will buy up all the Bitcoin and keep it out of the hands of the average person.

I learned about it on YouTube and have practiced it a moderate amount. I’m no expert. I’m interested in honing the ability, but doing it as a practice is less important to me than keeping a daily meditation and prayer discipline. Also Stephan Schwartz’s research shows that people who meditate daily are also generally more effective at remote viewing.

Richard Werner has proven that every bank loan prints money (aka credit creation or customer deposit creation), so it’s even more than crypto. Just doing Bitcoin is not enough, the power to create deposits must still be taken away from banks. This will require vision, education, and organizing.

I don’t think there’s an easy answer to this. With fiat conversion there will always be some entity that will need to carry the charge back risk. It seems like this will wind up being the stable coin issuer where the buck stops getting passed along. If someone does a charge back there they get banned from getting into that stable coin. It’s credit risk for whoever is exposed to the fiat system. It’s a house of cards built on debt. There will always be a chasm between fiat and sound money. Sure ok equivalents to the “credit score” rating system can be built into the crypto world, but then you’re just building fail prone bridges across the chasm from the house of cards to the rock of Bitcoin.

Fiat is closer to crypto in that every bank prints money when it gives a loan aka “creates a deposit.” The central banks are about centralizing this power and they generally have the effect of eliminating small local banks. See Richard Werner for more details on this.

If you don't have an existing reputation graph of folks in the local area to start with, then you need to start from scratch and it's essential to have ignore/mute and trust/like abilities in order to build a reputation graph from scratch. To be fully privacy respecting this seems like the only way to go. But, what if people in the local area have already doxed themselves and have public nostr profiles linked to their current bitchat keys? Then it seems plausible to leverage that existing public social graph starting from your first mute or like.

I'm not sure what you're referring to as it having your location. Do you mean the geohash channel? My impression is it gets the latitude / longitude from your mobile phone's location (assuming you gave it permission for this) and converts that into the geohash.
