If you don't have an existing reputation graph of folks in the local area to start with, then you need to start from scratch and it's essential to have ignore/mute and trust/like abilities in order to build a reputation graph from scratch. To be fully privacy respecting this seems like the only way to go. But, what if people in the local area have already doxed themselves and have public nostr profiles linked to their current bitchat keys? Then it seems plausible to leverage that existing public social graph starting from your first mute or like.
