Friends of ours (an elderly couple) asked my 11 year old if she can help them with some garden stuff and that they are willing to pay her. She replied respectfully that she will be happy to, but can only accept sats as payment. Proud mommy moment! They are Bitcoiners, so no explanations were needed.
She worked 3.5 hours and received 6395 sats! She saves every sat she gets and prefer all her money in sats. It starts with the youth.

Definitely! My husband and I have always been against the system and already did things against the grain. When Bitcoin came along it gave us the final piece of the puzzle we were looking for . We raise our children as free thinkers, we do free schooling and Bitcoin is the perfect example for them. Bitcoin becomes a way of living.

I love my country but there is no future here. Believe me we tried. You can’t run a business without BEEE and legislation killing you, the Bela bill was declared law last year meaning we don’t have the right the teach our children how we want to, it is now law that land can be confiscated and we live in fear of crime on a daily basis, walking in the street is a no go, you need an alarm, electric fence and outdoor security just to sleep at night.

I also jumped between the two until I installed “Nostur”, this is now my favourite. Zapping is easy, just need to change an emoji in the settings and the notifications get split up in different categories. I also enjoy the interface. I connected a Coinos wallet, so I can zap in app.

Bitcoin only, no more fiat for me.
Just hit the point where I can't use fiat anymore.
Almost a year ago I told someone I draw the line with using banks when they force me to use facial recognition or fingerprints to use my "own money". I take what I say seriously and always do what I say.
Today is that day. Two or three months ago, they started with fingerprint / facial recognition on the banking app but I could still disable it. As if today I can only make fiat payments if I do facial recognition. And I'm not willing to compromise.
I don't really keep much fiat in my bank anyway, basically just for what I have to do at the moment. I knew this moment would come. I used a scan to pay method to bypass the facial recognition for now to pay for the meat I ordered locally.
My fiat banking account is now empty and it will stay that way.
As of today I am Bitcoin only and if I can't pay for something with my sats, I'll have to DIY it!

I'm almost finshed with the illustrations of my children's book! Many hours, days and weeks have gone into making this book. I will soon release a teaser. This project is very close to my heart, I can't wait to publish it.
Any advice publishing book in both print and ebook would be very much appreciated. I'm thinking Amazon as a start but would love something Bitcoin based.

@npub1get…0nfm I opened a channel on Alby hub through a channel peer about a month ago. I payed for the channel and send a few sats to test my wallet and all worked. I did not connect my wallet to my Nostr yet but I did connect it to my website. Nothing went through my wallet in the mean time. Today I finally got around to connect it to my Nostr and now I don't have a channel on Alby Hub and no sats in wallet. There was not much sats in wallet, we did test runs of 450sats in total but it showed like 96sats or something due to reserves the channel keeps, but I payed 17225 sats for the channel. What happened to the channel? I did DM but got no response.

Agree. But I know how fast social media income can just dissapear. I made a proper income by sewing goods solely on through Facebook and suddenly I went from 600-700 people seeing a post to 20 if I'm lluckily. Facebook killed my business, but again I build it on a platform controlles by someone else. Algorithms and ads will eventually kill the creator.
It will be good to at least use Nostr as well, because Nostr will be getting bigger and better. In the beginning people did not want Bitcoin and now businesses are buying it. The best part is, if content creators start building their following now on Nostr, they will have a head start above others.
Sometimes we invest our time into something that does not pay in the beginning but if you keep at it, it will eventually.

My children all know about Bitcoin. They prefer to receive their money in Bitcoin and save in Bitcoin. We have never formally sat down to teach them about Bitcoin. They learn by listening to me and my husband when we talk, and from the podcasts we listen to. Whenever they have questions, they know we will always answer to the best of our abilities. They are familiar with our stories and experiences with fiat currency and observe how things are getting more expensive every day.
They are able to notice and understand these things because we provide a free environment for them to live and think in. If they had to worry daily about grades, school, and fitting in, this might not have been possible. Children need a free-thinking environment to learn more efficiently and focus on things that truly matter. Unfortunately, school kills curiosity in most children. The traditional way of learning is outdated—children should learn through experiences and living life.

As someone who enjoys sewing, crochet, homesteading, homeschooling, and a wide variety of other activities, I was stuck on Facebook for many years because I couldn't find another platform that met my needs (and I tried all of them, believe me). A year ago, I tried Nostr and thought, "Nah, this won't do." But since trying Nostr again about two months ago, I've already found at least one or more people with most of my interests to follow and enjoy—far more than I did on Facebook or Instagram. I also get to see their other interests on their feeds. I deleted Facebook and Instagram, and now I’m only using Nostr. It will only get better. The bonus is that I can choose to see politics or Bitcoin content if I want to. I feel like everything is in my hands now and no ads!

I was a habitual Facebook user for many years. Built a good business on Facebook (Facebook also killed it), found fascinating communities and even made great friends, but the lack of privacy and constant rat race was always a cringe. I tried to ignore how irritating it can be, trying to stay up to trend with the latest algorithm (if I did not do this my business was non existent), trying to ignore all the ads and friend requests from nosey family members. Every now and then I'd lose my mind, delete the app take a break for a week or 2, gather all my courage and jump back in. It drained the life out of me, I hated every moment, but I could see no way out. I tried every possible alternative social media platform, Twitter, Steemit, Mastodon, MeWe, Minds the list goes on and on and on. But after using each of them for a short time, I'd jump back on the Facebook train. None of them offered what I wanted and needed, mostly just bunch of garbage content.
A year ago my husband showed me Nostr, as usual he got me all excited, I tried it for a bit and thought to myself, "nah, it is just another dead platform". I love Bitcoin and enjoy Bitcoin content, but I need other stuff as well.
Jumping forward a year, my husband persuaded me to try it again. I went in half-heartedly and was amazed how much Nostr has grown! Within using it for a week, I deleted my Facebook for good and not looking back. Nostr offers a wide variety of content and it is unscensored. No more quilt trips, no more non-stop ads and it got my creative juices flowing again.

I raise my children to be adults, not kids.
I give them the opportunity to think for themselves and gently guide them when needed, have conversations with them, let them sit in when adults are talking, let them have an opinion, but teach them at the same time to not force their opinion or way of life on to others.
I grew up with "Kids should be seen not heard." "Children can't have an opinion." "Adults are always right." "Because I said so."
I decided to break that cycle. I'm not perfect and have my times where I fall into this "parenting trap", but I use these times to teach my girls that I am just a human being and that even adults should apologize to children for their wrong doings and mistakes.
Maybe I'm totally screwing this parenting thing up, time will tell. But I can't walk the same path my parents did with me. And so far it is turning out pretty good.

Definitely takes time and patience and might not be for everyone, but with my eldest being 13 years old I'm already seeing the benefits with this way of "schooling". That is the great thing about homeschooling, it can be adjusted to both the child's and parents needs.

We do freeschooling / unschooling / selflearning. Foundation phase I teach them the fondamental basics, reading, writing and math. Give them lots of play time and pencils and paper. But we keep it short and fun. And have access to books all the time. If they can read, they can teach themselves. In my opinion, children learn far better in a playful environment. If you keep it short, they have time to process what they learned and not get overwhelmed.
As they get older I observe what interests them and help open the possibilities to get better at them. If they have particular interest, find an online course, YouTube videos or books about it. We don't do grading, we don't do curriculums and we don't have set "time" for school. Life is school.
Each child is different and so is the way they learn and take information in.
I feel the traditional way of education is dead and we live in a time where education and information is free.
I am not from the US though.

I prefer a more dense bread. It keeps what I spread actually on my bread.
I also found more water and the more I stretch and fold the more "holes" I get. So I intentionally add less water and do like max 2 stretch and folds, it then gives me more dense slices. Less sticky as well.
