ahhhh yeah FabGL is GPLv3, not LGPLv3, so there is no linking exception
I try not to use GPL software because of that. I don't agree that licenses should be viral, at least I don't want my own code to force that decision on someone.

so the guy released something under the GPL and then got mad someone used that code according to the GPL license. You don't want to play in the OSS world, fine. But don't do it and then get pissed when you don't end up king.
I have a couple of SCSI2SD boards I bought from him originally, before this whole ZuluSCSI stuff

I spent some time yesterday on my Emacs config, I'd like to move back to Emacs instead of VSCode
I did get it *mostly* working like I wanted, but since some of my Ada projects use Alire, getting flycheck to work isn't as straightforward as just installing GNAT directly

okay folks working on RISC-V stuff, do you use SBI (Supervisor Binary Interface) or machine mode?

I'm finding myself bitching about Python a lot (go figure, it's the main language at $dayjob)
but most of my complaints come down to types. I prefer static types checked by the compiler. I will always prefer this. Compilers will catch things I don't think of all the time.
Python's type annotations are good, but the time it takes mypy to check a large codebase is prohibitive

ugh I hate using Google Docs and Confluence and such. The browser interface isn't great for this sort of thing, and they all have different formatting keymaps, and such
I miss dedicated word processors and spreadsheets
I think this is worse on a Mac - when you hit Command-Left Arrow, when editing a doc, you usually mean "go to the start of the line" but if your focus inside the page isn't just right, it means "Back" to the browser
grrrrrr it's just a usability nightmare

Okay for those of us that like UNIXy operating systems, but not where the Linux side has slid away from the "small, limited use tools used together" towards things like systemd, why not use *BSD or Haiku?
Haiku may be single user, but it's blazing fast and has a POSIX core, and, well, FreeBSD is *right there*
Personally I would use FreeBSD over Linux as soon as it has a more complete 802.11ax stack.
Haiku is great, and will be even better once something like Epiphany is more stable.

hrm I bought an inexpensive 1080p 15.6" USB-C monitor to try with my Linux laptop. Occasionally I just want a second display without having to resort to the full desktop.

Rhubarb and blueberries are getting their pre-freeze freeze.
TIL Apparently you spread them out on sheet trays lined with parchment paper and freeze that for 4 or so hours, then put them in Ziploc bags so they don't turn into a freezer burned, solid mass.

Yeah the RPi's framebuffer is basically the same.
I just don't know the algorithms for computing lines and arcs and circles and such.
I mean, using a for loop to write bytes is easy, but not the most efficient.

I'm thinking of shifting my current focus for my hobbyist OS to making some of the UI, so I can design the APIs and such.
I'll make a Linux wrapper that simulates the framebuffer in an X window.
I basically do not know *anything* about painting graphics except "put pixels into framebuffer RAM"
