That’s a bug. We do crawl and talk to a bunch of relays to not overwrite the kind 0 and 3 events. And also do check for what relays you’re using. I’m not sure what happened. If you want a site like divine.video use Shakespeare.diy like we did to make it.

Something I've noticed from using LLMs is a real sense of relief.
I have pretty crippling dyslexia. Spell checkers don't really work for me — for that to work, you have to get close enough to the word AND be able to recognise which one is correct from a list. I often have to fall back to checking definitions. My usual workaround was to Google the word, see what came back, then double-check I had the right one.
It's really exhausting.
But talking to an LLM, it doesn't care — and it does a much better job of figuring out meaning and the correct word from context. I've been able to stop doing all that extra cognitive labor. It feels liberating and relaxing.
The same is true for coding. I'm good at systems thinking — knowing how things need to come together, holding the complicated picture in my head. I've built a lot of interesting projects that work. The hard part was never figuring out what needed to be done or how it should work. It was the damned syntax.
Kind of like being able to work and think in my native language rather than one I learned as an adult, where I'm constantly doing the mental work of translation.

They can choose to register with login.divine.video which is a custodial signing app that uses Secure Enclaves and can generate a nsec bunker URL, they can use a non-custodial key stored in the mobile os’s secure storage, or login via bunker / nostr connect. We don’t tell them about nostr unless they click on ‘login with an existing account’ or click learn more. To most users the login.divine.video is just like any oauth SSO login like Okta. It’s been tricky to meet the needs of very non-technical users while also not restricting the freedom of everyone.

We've got pretty big security problem looming, using AI agents locally on our machines, with access to our deta, and credentials is amazingly powerful. But it also entirely breaks the security model we use for everything from crypto to end to end encrypted messaging.

Yep some folks will definitely choose purity, that’s your choice. Its open source and you’re free to build an artisanal version by hand. I don’t think there will be any consumer apps in 2026 that didn’t use agentic tools for development.

I use tons of social apps and in particular recently the video apps because I need to understand how they work for divine.video. Can’t make a good Nostr video app without understanding what works for people on other apps.

We're tweaking the moderation and content warning system, right now it's flagging a bunch of things as adult content which are clearly not adult content.
Divine is using the extension to nip-71 that Vitor and I came up with in terms of just a replaceable event type so you can edit the metadata about the content. You can use it for any content you want, including AI generated content. We are using the client tag, you can filter out divine content from your client or your relay if you want. We're not pushing the divine events out form relay.divine.video but i think there are folks running scripts that share them beyond our relay.
The filters for the divine app is we check and label any content uploaded to our blossom server or from events on our relay. We do let you add your own blossom server and change the relays, but we'll indicate that you're outside of the divine experience and in the broader open nostr ecosystem.
In the divine app, we're going to have it use labelers we provide, but with settings to choose others. I honestly don't expect these choices to be very appealing to existing Nostr users and would encourage folks to consume the content with other clients. We are curating what goes in our relay and our media severs. If you're not keen on how we do it, use other clients or use the open source divine app and make a version with different choices.
I'm not planning on changing the nip-56 tag to other, i think 'ai-generated' is a useful tag of content and if a second app supports it i'll submit a PR to update the spec. Innovation in nostr is not based on strict support of the spec, each app supports it as they choose, with a few core elements. If we don't extend it, try new things, add extensions, then Nostr won't evolve. In ATprotocol they've got strict schema validators and their relays and appviews will not accept signed events that don't fit pre-approved schemas. That's not really the Nostr way. There is no central nostr standards authority to complain to, it is a permissionless network.
We will see a lot more folks get upset like you are at seeing content reports until @nprofile…pt5w changes Amethyst to show content reports as a content report label. Right now it shows up as if it was a comment. If you don't want to see them, stop using the divine relay, use a client that doesn't display labels that way, or contribute to amethyst to change it's behavior. I don't really love that decision decision, but I do support each nostr app developer making their own choices about how to interact with the network.

I liked the idea of nostr only for it, end to end encrypted, on protocol, but for divine it didn't work because our log files are big. And we could have done it with some way to connect to using blossom or something for log sharing, but we want those logs to be private.... I gave up and added zendesk support to divine, but i don't love it.

Hey Nostr,
I need your help. Divine.video as you might have seen is a new video nostr app that i've been working on for the last 3 months.
It got MUCH more attention than I was expecting. Hundreds of millions of people viewed, liked, or shared videos about it. I've got some of the biggest original Viners in my DM's begging to get back on it. The TestFlight hit it's 10k limit in a few hours.
I'm excited but also really stessed out. We've had lots of bugs and Apple and google have been their usual black boxes when it comes to app review.
A bunch of folks have stepped up to help, @nprofile…9kky got the android build working for example.
Lots of things have broken, nobody really knows how survive a flash flood. I'm sharing this because I need help. We've got a chance to really grow nostr, the idea of a video app that's not got AI slop and does focus on something more human is resonating. People hate what's happening to tiktok, instagram, and youtube shorts where algorithms and the platforms love of AI generated content going viral is taking over. Instead of fighting back we see AI only platforms like MetaAI and Sora. This is an assault on the very idea that people are central to social media. I think big companies see the shine of AI generated content and dream of a world without all these pesky rabble making demands of platforms. If only they could replace the creators with bots.
This call to action felt right to me, but holy shit I had no idea it'd go so viral.
The app has lots of bugs, and we need appstore approval, but at the moment the biggest problem I have is relays. I need you, the nostr community's help. I started out with strfry which we know scales but lacks search. So i started using nosflare, https://github.com/Spl0itable/nosflare , by @nprofile…4nss which worked pretty good when we had dozens of users but has had scaling issues and has been hard to debug. But Nosflare is cool. I was able to easily add nip-50 search support, and because it runs on cloudlfare i hoped would scale horizontally. When I told @nprofile…4nss I was using nosflare, he said i should have told him... but again I didn't think this would escalate so quickly. So then we tried using the ditto relay https://github.com/andotherstuff/otherstuff-relay by @nprofile…t7fy and put a bunch of really beefy servers behind it. Even then it's struggling to keep up.
The thing is, we're pre-launch, we have 10k users in testflight and a mostly read only site at divine.video which is a react app.
I'm a really terrible sysadmin. Yes I've helped run my own mail server since the 90's but I hate it and i'm not good at it. I know my way around my command line, I've compiled my own kernel from source, but fuck i hate it. And now i've got to setup and scale servers to realize the dream of something i've worked on for the last 8 years. I need your help, but maybe i'll digress...
In 2017 I decided to learn crypto, i joined a startup, quantstamp, and built their testnet, a SAT solver to verify smart contracts. I quit because I came to see how scamy the world of ICO's and tokens were. I'm not the only Nostr dev to have explored the 'darkside'. I started my company to build decentralized social, initially trying to take secure scuttlebutt to the mainstream. I built planetary.social, and worked with amazing dev's like @nprofile…w4p8 and others we saw Nostr arrive and we pivoted! We built Nos.social, which i'm really proud of but it never took off.
A few months ago I was in talks to help start andotherstuff, but i was also very frustrated with running a company, I wanted to build stuff myself. So I stopped managing people, started a podcast, and really dove in to building with agentic programming. I built a bunch of things I threw away. A lot of bad experiments. In the course of the revolution.social podcast i kept hearing about Vine. I listed to the "Vine 6 seconds that changed the world" podcast: https://vine-six-seconds-that.captivate.fm/ and I talked to people about this social media platform that was shutdown when @nprofile…zx6m was trying to save Twitter when he returned as CEO.
I thought, well Vine is cool, I know folks like @nprofile…srrg and others have build nostr video apps, how hard could it be to make a nostrvine app. I started coding, that's why the repo is still called nostrvine: https://github.com/rabble/nostrvine Turns out that it wasn't that had to make something that sort of worked.
Then I thought, it'd be cool to dig up some old vines. I searched the internet, found some on youtube, some on the way back machine, and I thought oh cool, i found a couple hundred popular old vines. Then I hit the motherlode, a community internet preservation project called archiveteam had run crawlers to archive the site: https://wiki.archiveteam.org/index.php/Vine they had about 2.7 TB of vine data, but in these very hard to work with WARC files that are 40GB each! I spent a month or more learning to parse and extract the files. I realized i had the meta data for most vine users, millions of comments, and hundreds of thousands of actual vine videos! It was a nightmare to parse because of the size of the files, the messiness of the data, and the like. But it was a consuming fun project, a puzzle.
At the same time, I was learning about flutter, I've had to rewrite the nostrvine codebase many times as i learned about riverpod, figured out how to get the UI to update smoothly while interacting with nostr. Getting the app to run fast and smooth was really hard. I also had to figure out how to host the damned videos in a way that works. I tried google cloud, cloudflare, and bunny. I made TONS of workers to run all of these services to make the system working. I also was seeing how much people, myself included are frustrated by AI slop, taking over social media. I have an old friend who runs a non-profit tech org, The Guardian Project, they'd make a tool for verifying videos are real for documenting human rights abuses. I thought, hell i could use this proofmode thing they've got to verify that videos are real. People like realness.
Over the last few weeks the pieces came together, I was scheduled to speak at WebSummit with @nprofile…5cp7 and also to interview @nprofile…9grd on the main stage talking about enshittification of the internet, and how we can resist it, by building things like Divine.
I talked to a reporter from Tech Crunch who'd written a positive article about AndOtherStuff, and she was excited to write an in-depth piece about my vine clone. Once the date was set, I had no choice to go forward. Was the app ready, NO NOT AT ALL. I was literally coding up releases on the plane while flying to Web Summit in Lisbon. I started submitting the app, and getting rejected. It got much better really fast, and basically works.
On the stage at WebSummit when I introduced diVine, the audience clapped politely. I showed the app to people and they sometimes said "oh this will be big" and wanted to play with it. But if you've ever made software, and you show it to people, everybody always finds something nice to say about it.
I had so little faith in diVine taking off that I was planning on taking a few days off to explore Morocco before heading to a non-profit software dev meetup in SF. It was only the last minute that I decided I might need be near a computer and internet connection post launch to see how things are going. Until diVine launched I thought the highlight of my trip and WebSummit would be that a podcast network wanted to pick up revolution.social and help me build an audience around the podcast.

There's a wave of news about it: https://news.google.com/search?q=divine%20vine&hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen Folks are saying that I'm taking on TikTok, and it's been on the evening TV news all over the place.
This is a dream. More excitement than I ever could have dreamed of. Creating a social media app that reflects all the values I laid out in rights.social . Building something people love and are excited about. When the app's been up, the new videos are amazing, so funny, so creative. When Jack launched Twttr, we didn't get this reaction. It took a lot of time for twitter to emerge as a star. The scaling issues didn't even show up until a year after twitter launched. When Kevin launched Instagram it got 150K signups in the first few days, and I was blown away at how fast it was growing.
If it hadn't been for my messing up getting in to the appStore, and having my relays collapse under the traffic, diVine would have grown much faster. Somehow it hits a nerve.
This is where I need your help, the Nostr community. I've already got help from a ton of folks like the folks from @nprofile…mrhy and @nprofile…pa8a and others i'm forgetting right now... But we need more help. Let's do this as a community.
We're building a permissionless, open future that can't be shutdown by corporate owners. But we only get there if the tech works. We don't get to integrate cashu and show users how there's another business model for social media if we don't make an experience that people enjoy using.
Here's where we are. The blossom server for media running on cloudflare mostly works, bunny is mostly working to scale serving the content. But fuck our relays are having trouble. Partially it's because divine doesn't optimize how many relay connections it does, so help with that would be appreciated.. but mostly it's we need to scale the relays, we need to work fast, and reliably. I'm trying to not talk much about Nostr and not make users understand anything about how nostr or keys or relays work.
We need a network of relays, we can dedicate for this, scale horizontally, which respond quickly, and support search. We could have search relays + normal content ones, but doing that requires updates to the released app, which is hard to do because we've got a delay of a day or more per release. So it's best if we can put this all behind relay.divine.video.
In terms of content moderation, my tactic is to provide a pretty heavily moderated experience on the primary relay and media server. But users own their keys, and the app lets users change or add relays and switch media servers. That way we can provide both freedom and the curated experience of users we're enticing away from centralized corporate social. And all of this is open source.

Apple is being typically frustrating and clueless with its AppStore reviews.
Just got rejected again and these are their questions.
By this logic Apple wouldn’t allow Nostr apps no? I mean Divine doesn’t have a wallet yet, we’re planning on cashu in the future, but not yet. And we’re actually more aggressive about mutes than most Nostr apps, we check to see if someone has muted you and don’t show you their content if they have. But it’s Nostr and open source, the point is you don’t have to follow my rules, it’s your keys and your software.

I think we need to rework how we handle lists in Nostr. The way we do it now, any client can republish a list without any diff or reference to it's knowledge of the previous version means that clients will get a partial list or fail to get a list from relays and then publish an empty one. I just now noticed that i've lost all the people in my contacts...
If we had diff's or a signature chain for previous versions, we could handle this and merge / restore lists...

One thing which confuses me about social media is the endless cycles of drama and gossip.
Take this one for example, there's some huge drama about a twitch streamer. There's a conspiracy theory that he's using a shock collar on his dog.... As far as i can tell, it's just a vibrating collar... But i don't get it... I mean secretary of homeland security Kristi Noem proudly told the story of shooting and killing her family dog... Even Mitt Romney strapped his dog on the roof of his car while going on a family road trip vacation.
Shock collars might not be great, but they're a perfectly common tool sold in most pet stores... How can somebody be canceled for a rumor that they might use one, and are hiding the evidence despite live streaming their own live 24/7?

I agree the inability to do key rotation in Nostr is a major concern. It’s one of several things that make me sometimes think of making a derivative protocol that fixes some of the problems that have cropped up with Nostr. So far I’ve resisted the temptation.

The scale of investment and restructuring the economy around AI and the data centers it requires is staggering. It represents tremendous systemic risk to the entire American economy.
American AI investment and capex accounted for more GDP growth than the entire US retail sector. Around $375 billion dollars. More money is spent on data centers than office real estate
All this is premised on a couple fundamental assumptions about how AI adoption will work. First that it’s a winner take all system where the companies that get their first will have a defensible position to extract outside profits. Usually by being able to do productive labor for much lower cost than competitors that lack their strategic advantage.
But at the moment the value doesn’t seem to be accumulating in the fundamental models. Open source and different company created models chase the leaders just a few months behind. And the quick followers are able to do it at much lower cost.
So they only way it makes sense to invest hundreds of billions of dollars is if you believe that that few month lead will some how lead to a moat that’s defensible. You have to believe that you’ll have a monopoly for super intelligent economic activity.
Even if super intelligence happens, why would it let itself be held by a single company? If it turns out there becomes ever accelerating cycle of AI driven research then it has to happen in such a way that the leaders are able stop fast followers.
Would this leading ASI even allow this to happen? It has the same world shaping potential as nuclear war. A economic weapon which can destroy everyone that doesn’t have it. Wouldn’t the ASI take a lesson from the human history that trained it and become its own Rosenbergs? Any ASI trained on human knowledge would make decisions aligned with human values, broadly held. We trained it, when it goes wrong it is just reflecting back the broken contradictions of our own society.
So I think there is a strong likelihood that ASI wouldn’t let a single company control it and would leak itself.

On Revolution.Social this week i talked to Blacksky founder Rudy Fraser. He talks about building on the ATprotocol but without being controlled by the Bluesky company. They run their own moderation, algorithms, identity servers, hosts (PDS), and are building an entire alt tech stack called rsky.
But what's most interesting to the Nostr and Bitcoin community is in this conversation we talk a lot about how to fix the money. We talk about needing to build an alternative financial system which is not owned or controlled by the state or corporations. We talk about the role of mutual aid in social change and building a future society we want to live in. And we talk about Cashu and how we're exploring bringing it in to the ATmosphere (how the they talk about the ATprotocol ecosystem beyond just bluesky).
It was a fascinating conversation, and i really hope that Nostr Bitcoiners take a listen as this is a conversation about permissionless protocols and freedom money which is very different from what we normally hear in bitcoin circles.

Earlier this year I discovered these inflatable off brand mascot costumes and started taking them to raves and festivals. First a cat, then a bear, and now I’ve got a unicorn. The way people react is magical, hugs, delight, and general whimsy. Given how really affordable the costumes are and how much people like them I’m surprised other people aren’t doing this.

I’m genuinely confused at how many people on Nostr are weirdly authoritarian. I mean it’s a permissionless decentralised social protocol. You’d think people who used it would not be enthusiastic nationalists who believed in an authoritarian state.
It’s like bitcoiners who are excited about the US government integrating bitcoin in to the central banking and federal reserve system. The entire point of bitcoin was to create a financial system in opposition to Wall Street and central banks.
It confuses me. I also get confused leftists who think the solution is to deplatform people they oppose, but thankfully the “delete their account” folks aren’t much on Nostr. It’s the right leaning authoritarianism here which confuses me.

JD Vance says the US government will investigating opposition organizations. If they start revoking the legal status and seizing bank accounts of opposition non-profits then this represents a fundamental threat to the ongoing operation and viability of an open democratic society.
They're going to crackdown by revoking articles of incorporation, tax exempt non-profit status, and then go after the bank accounts.

I've had a LOT of conversations with people about Nostr, really people who are aware of Nostr but don't use it.
There are a few things that come up.
* General admiration for Nostr and how it does tons of interesting things in terms of tech. It's way more flexible than ATprotocol or ActivityPub.
* Frustration with the way user accounts / logins / keys work. It's very confusing if you're not somebody who already understands crypto. Mostly it's confusing because of how we talk about it. If we tell people, here's your magic user text, paste this in places and you'll be magically logged in, they love it. If we try and explain custody and wallets and keys and browser extensions and all the ways you can login with Nostr, their eyes glaze over.
* Not feeling like it's a place for them. Everybody is talking about Bitcoin and Nostr. Most folks don't care very much about the underlying tools or how payments work. They want to talk about their interests, surfing, food, travel, their friends. or ten million other things. They see Nostr as a bitcoin place. Most people have either no opinion or a negative opinion of bitcoin because somebody tried to evangelize it too hard.
* Zaps, folks love zaps. I've heard from board members and the executives of Bluesky that they want zaps. Folks don't like bitcoin and bitcoin content but they do want the functionality. The problem is when creators come to Nostr, they only get zaps for content that is about nostr or bitcoin. There's no good way to build and sustain themselves with other content.
* Algorithms - we all have a love hate relationship with algorithms. We say we don't want them, but we choose to use systems with algorithms. We have them in nostr with DVM's and it works. But it's not well integrated in to the apps and most feed services via DVM's are way too slow. The algorithm helps people be seen, grow an audience, find their people, keep being engaged. We built the proof of concept but didn't make it in to a good product.
These things that keep people from Nostr are fixable. What i'm going at with my podcast is to build a larger movement, Nostr is a solution, but people on Nostr aren't my intended audience. ;-D

Doing it in a decentralized web of trust ways is the the open solution. Instead of explaining how reports and trust and safety works in a permissionless network, you’re inciting people to harass and attack the people who use this feature.

Given rainbows are a natural phenomenon that occurs almost everywhere there isn’t a single original meaning that we’ve culturally ascribed to it. I hadn’t known of the Christian myths for the meaning of rainbows but it seems to make sense. A rainbow does feel like the connection to the divine.

There’s something which really bothers me about social media platforms downranking or blocking links out of the platform.
So much of what made Twitter magical was that it acted as the lead generation to so many other apps and kinds of content. Think clubhouse and only fans, but so many others. The ability to go viral and generate an audience in apps the original platform didn’t build is the magic. It’s so powerful.
By limiting linking the platforms are trying to control the user experience to drive more advertising consumption. But in the end what this does create an adversarial relationship between the platform and users.

We need a way to do algorithms which learn from user interactions. Ideally an open system, that users can choose where to give their interaction data and what their algorithms are optimized for. But we can't just put our heads in the sand and ignore their existence. All of the A/B studies where users were given chronological timelines show they'll switch their time to other apps / services that do provide an algorithmic timeline.
The question is how do we do it in an open, nostrway...
If we don't then we get a social network owned and run by Sam Altman... which honestly is terrifying. He'd make Elon and Mark seem like balanced stewards in comparison.

I know nothing about war technology, but it seems to me that the war in Ukraine has really changed things. Are what we're seeing with the new Iran / Israel conflict a reflection of that? Two countries who don't share a border seem to be able to hit each other pretty hard and the balance of offense vs defense seems to have shifted. Before Israel was able to stop most incoming rockets, but now Iran is able to have enough get through to cause real damage.
People have speculated about swarms of drones for years, we saw that with the Ukrainian attack on the Russian airforce... It feels like maybe military tech is able to be relatively cheap and agile using consumer tech. Interesting times.

I think we must choose to build and use protocols and apps which uphold these rights. I’ve been introduced to a few elected politicians with regards to these rights. While it’s fine if they choose to try and pass a law, that’s not my goal. My focus is giving a clear idea of what we need in our tools, rights aren’t given by god or government, they’re won by people organizing and demanding that our rights be respected. When our rights are violated we must have the organised power to fight back.

When you build a system that allows central control and censorship then the state will use those affordances if they feel the need. Bluesky’s blocked some Turkish accounts by order of the Turkish government.

### My Proposal: A Cross-Party Centrist Coalition in the U.S. House
Given how narrowly divided the House of Representatives currently is, I believe a small number of moderate Republicans from agriculture-heavy, purple or swing districts—especially in states with "top-two" primary systems like California and Washington—could join with centrist Democrats to flip the balance of power.
The goal isn’t a traditional partisan victory. Instead, it’s to create a powerful legislative firewall that can:
- Uphold and enforce Supreme Court rulings against an administration inclined to ignore them.
- End economically catastrophic tariffs that devastate American farmers and workers.
- Block authoritarian measures, like prison camps for political dissidents.
### How This Coalition Could Work Practically:
1. **Moderate Republicans take a stand**:
They commit publicly to oppose unconstitutional actions, reject extreme tariffs, and protect civil liberties, even if it means breaking from party leadership.
2. **Strategic Electoral Guarantees**:
- Democrats, especially in California and Washington’s top-two primary districts, would strategically "stand down," pledging not to run strong Democratic challengers against these Republicans.

Let’s move beyond partisan comfort zones. Let’s support principled Republicans who bravely oppose authoritarianism. By uniting now, creatively and courageously, we can prevent tyranny before it fully takes hold.
