Easiest solution is not having churches 😅.
Read the bible for yourself, do home gatherings, come together with people wanting to study the Word with you (in small chat groups, etc...).
As a French farmer doing all the latter, the whole Church thing looks like the Pharisees all over again, ngl.
Anyways, don't mind me. Probably lessons in this discussion for businesses in general 👍.

1. These are the main problems profiles (especially already have on Nostr as it is now. So at least it doesn't add new problems/attack vectors (like nip29) and can piggyback on the solutions that are built for profiles (frost, bunkers, enclaves, ...).
And I don't have to teach newcomers a whole bunch of new stuff and send them to dinner shady admin url fir all the non-transparent relay-side stuff.
2. Yup, I'm very open to switching to a better id system that handles key reason etc more gracefully.

- can't announce what content types your handling
- very naive identifier that's tied to DNS relay address
- not one group ever migrated
- 100% set up for copying telegram/discord UX/UI that doesn't work here
- the actual moderation is shady not transparent relay side
- join flow for users doesn't work for anything other than channels (and 100% of clients are not interoperable on this even)
- dead parts of the siec that zero client has ever implemented (roles...)
- try anything beyond one channel and it's a mess
- best builder on it just left Nostr
- etc...
Went into much more detail in many of my older posts/articles/....
TLDR: we can't build the communities we need with it fir Zapstore (for example).
So we're building communities on a set up that does work for us AND can let people add/migrate their existing chat rooms to it.
Bringing our forum to nip29 on the other hand is a no-go. Which kinda makes the point.

Zapstore nostr-based forum starts being used, without it being announced or on mobile app yet, nice!
Still gonna require tweaks, onboarding and better moderation set up etc...

Asking nicely doesn't work on an open protocol.
Better way is to reference your targeted audience specifically (h tags for communities for example).
Then besides publishing to the community relays, you can blast your events out to whatever other relays want to accept it. Doesn't matter, and is probably even wanted by most creators, since the event is pointing to where the activity around the event is happening anyway.

Yup, we added the feature.
(part of the team btw)
But in practice nobody is bothering to create competing catalog relays, nobody is changing that setting (and it's crappy UX), we can't really build good discovery around it, etc.....
That makes us the de-facto platform for Apps round here. Sucks.
Communities is a (hopefully) elegant way out of that position.
Communities that can add "Apps" as a content section next to their "Forum", "Tasks", "Videos" or whatever else they need and work with.

For my Nostr publications, I want to target different ones to different (sets of) communities. Not ALL of them to the same exact set of #outbox relays, that apps keep bullying me into defining.
I don't want to see every fart you make on Nostr, and you don't want to "follow" all of mine.
For my inbox, I don't want it all in the same feed neither. That's taking the worst part about email and adding alerts for emoji reactions in there too, on ANY of my Nostr events 🤦‍♂.
It's a set up that can't scale beyond one use case (twitter clone) and is why all #otherstuff apps have broken (or just zero) notifications, and in turn break the ones of the twitter clones it all started with.
Proactive steps:
- Target / Filter by communities, first.
- By content type, second.
- Have communities set up in a way that they have a main relay, so you can use those relays as the scope for publishing and notifications.

I think it was because I took the opportunity to open Wisp on the news phone with a new npub, to see what the onboarding is like, and I did the follow everyone online thing.
That and the For You feed gave me sth slower feed-wise than the 12 people I follow with my actual npub. Which is obvious and probably not your fault. Scuzi 😉.

I do still (maybe naively) think I can get a #goodenough UX to work with Frost shares.
Send a share to Gmail/iCloud, one to your projects server and keep one (or two) in mobile app. There's sth to be done there that's at least less worse than the current Nostr key solutions. But it's probable you are right in the end and I'll end up agreeing with you as time goes by.

I think just putting a "z" tag in comments and chat messages is the best solution for #zapversations.
The tag references the payment proof, which can be a lightning zap, fiat payment, ecash, ... And you can suffix the amount and currency in the same tag.
That gives apps the ability to fetch full comment threads and chat feeds FAST and render the zap-comments and messages optimistically.

Community-first, yes. By far best for newcomers.
Nip-29 is not the spec for it tho. It is good inspiration for how to do Rooms inside of Communities however.
A better Community + Room spec will make migrating to it easier than migrating a Nip29 to a new relay.

Nostr key is very different risk scenarios.
As a hoster you're holding just one share.
They'd use iCloud or Google for another.
Then your app should incentivize multi-device use so that the third one is on multiple devices too.

They don't need a password in the first place, that's my point.
They just need their FROST shares .
When they sign up to your Soo with their phone, you can send one share to their Gmail inbox, one share to your apps server and keep (min) one on the phone. That's a flow whit zero password UX. And even if they drop that in the lake at that exact moment, they'd have enough to continue being the same npub.

People hate passwords. And needing an account for everything. Nothing they hate more in tech.
So don't use FROST to give them another password to add to the list (and triple the verification codes for changing it 🤦).
Use it to make the password unnecessary.

Kind 1s are global announcements, on the messy public square where :90percent: is screaming exagarations and needs repoasts for visibility.
Which is fine and can even be a fun game to play.
Most other content types, however, are better suited as part of moderated communities.
But people need to get past the blind spot that makes them think you can only choose 1 community to publish your article/app/video/... in.
We're on an open protocol ffs. Don't forget that when brainstorming Community solutions.

Not yet no.
Android app is not yet in the same design system. Web is ahead and is :110percent: set up for custom theming.
I already have a matching Dart (which does not have css) design system tho. It's just not an urgent priority to apply all that to the mobile app just yet.
