> The Brookings report also raises the alarm that much of the funding for the AI build-out is financed by debt, some of it unknown because it is hidden in off-balance-sheet financing...
> A deeper dive into the dependence of the massive AI build-out on unsustainable debt is even more troubling. A recent report by Goldman Sachs research found between 33 and 37 percent of all capital expenditures by AI hyperscalers is debt finance, and that doesn’t count off-balance-sheet debt.

> ... the AI build-out through 2032 will be $10.3 trillion. That amounts to 3.63 percent of GDP per year, many times that of previous large-scale infrastructure investments, from the 19th-century canals, the railroads, telephone, and electric grids, to the interstate highway system.
> And unlike AI, whose benefits are speculative, unproven, and with hard-to-fathom risks, these earlier investments in infrastructure more than paid for themselves in productivity gains to the broader economy.

Wouldn’t you know it, just before being destroyed the committee was working on advice regarding #foodborneillness outbreaks.

🧵 > In an American context, cyclosporiasis outbreaks are almost always caused by improper sanitation at farms or food processing facilities. Farmers around the world routinely refuse to provide adequate toilet or handwashing facilities for their workers if they think they can get away with it, to save money. When exploited raspberry or spinach pickers have no choice but to relieve themselves in a hole next to the field of crops, the potential consequences are obvious.

（King Trump’s private army from the DHS）」という一行も見えます。 https://www.musiclifeclub.com/news/20260129S_02.html

Hi I was wondering if you've every seen anything about the Indonesian Punk Band Marjilan? I heard of them through a great local Folk/Punk band (family), NanbuShiki. Jinta, the lyric-writer, organizer, gottan-player for NanBuShiki told me that Marjilan houses and works with street kids and music. I started following their IG account but can't read Indonesian. It looks like the work DIT (Do It Together) micro-food production in a slum in addition to concerts... Your post made me think of them and "Rebel Riot" in Myanmar "Buddha is Punk"..
