I dunno how many people remember me from before I started using Marie PFPs, but do you remember how I always run Rikka PFPs during Christmas, back during the As109 days?

I can back this as I was one of those minors and knew multiple others; it seems historically, they've always preferred targeting minors in this community.
Antis also have signed up for Pedi instances before, trying to stay undercover at least for a short period. They don't often make it in, since our moderators and admins are good at filtering them out, but a few do still make it in.

I'm just thinking about being a kid in this community again.
Antis always treated parental figures as this... I unno... This perfect monolith that can never do wrong and always knows best.
My mother and Stepfather were abusive back then. Tiny mistakes would result in being hit, demeaned, shouted at. Not major mistakes, even just the small ones. Sure, it may seem like 'standard parent stuff' but thats fucked up.
Of course, I didn't trust them.
And, finding my way onto the community, it was the first time I'd met adults I felt genuinely respected by.
So, of course, I had more trust in people here than my own parents.
Yet, Antis would always say things like, "Why do you trust pedos more than your parents? lol"
They'd always try to get contact with my parents to try and 'save' me, even in spite of everything.
I find it weird that Antis hold parents in such high regard.
Not all parents are good, not all parents give their children the love they deserve.
Some children just have to work with what they have, as unfortunate as it is.

I noticed as a kid that they always said, "You should tell your patents" as if all parents are flawless and have nothing but unconditional love for their children.
For as good as that would be, it's unfortunately just not true. My parents at the time were abusive and I could never tell them who I was online because I just wouldn't be able to keep what I mentally needed if I did.
And it's pretty hard to get in contact with a 'psychological professional' as a minor without your parent's help.

It's Thanksgiving.
I have a lot of things I'm thankful for.
I'm thankful I have a place in this community; without it, I feel like I'd always be around with this chip on my shoulder, carrying some secret I have to hide from everyone I know and never being able to show an entire half of who I am.
It doesn't help that I have a lot of difficulty finding a 'home' in any other community. I feel detached from everywhere else, no matter how much I try and feel like I'm 'one of them'.
I don't believe there will ever be another place that allows me to feel like I am real.
I would never want to live like that, and for six years now, pushing on seven, this community has allowed me to feel like I don't have to, and I don't know how to say how much I appreciate that, but it matters so much to me.
I'm thankful for all the friends I have; even if I'm not as close with some of them as I may like, I'm thankful to have people who care about me and people I can care for.
My friends, both in and out of this community, are genuinely what makes it worth while to get up in the morning.
I'm thankful have my family. They haven't always been great. Hell, they haven't always been good, people who remember me when I was younger remember how my Mom and Stepdad were abusive, and how it got me to move.
But, My Dad tries. And, my Mom's been trying since, and I don't have to hear from my Stepdad.
I'm thankful for that. I appreciate them, even if they're not so good sometimes.

Another thing I want to say is that online - both on and off Pedi -, I see a lot of cruelty or overwhelming vitriol thrown towards people who have done something wrong.
Whether that was from a place of ignorance or malice is rarely taken into account.
I don't really care for how old the person is, I really do believe that we could just stand to be less aggressive towards everyone, and we could all do better by being more compassionate and understanding.
That doesn't mean forgiveness or letting things slide, or not caring about whether someone has done something wrong.
It just means doing more to keep everyone calm, and keep whatever issues occurred from happening again.
When we respond like that, I believe we are taken further away from where we need to be, and I think that does nothing but harm.

A commonly held belief here, and among people who have researched general child protection, is that the mental health of Pedophiles is important to the safety of children.
Somewhere, I saw a response to that from who I presume is a 'Kill all Pedophiles' type person, who completely dismissed this idea under the assumption it was some kind of threat.
"Treat us nicely, or we'll rape your children!"
I didn't think anything of it at the time because it comes off as a pretty standard Anti-Pedo statement, and it still does, but I've put a little bit more thought into it.
By now, I believe it's becoming a more popular opinion that caring for mental health is important to preventing harm around the board; It can help prevent harm to oneself or others before it happens, and those who have committed harm to oneself or others have a lower likelihood of 're-offending' when their mental health is taken care for. It is the entire concept of rehabilitation.
This goes for a lot of different types of crime. Very few people just do it to do it, there's almost always a problem that, if taken care of, can make a less harmful person.
(I don't quite like phrasing it that way but I don't know how better to do it.)
So it seems a little strange to me that this seems to still be a very hot take when we bring that to the conversation of Paraphilia or sexual abuse in general.
Many people who I imagine may otherwise be in favor of rehabilitation over punishment will find reason why these groups specifically should be exempt from rehabilitation.
Many who I assume believe protecting mental health reduces overall harm across the board will find whatever arbitrary reasons for why Paraphiles specifically should be exempt, and simply need to be wiped off the map.
This is even more cruel when many of them do whole heartedly believe MAPs only exist because they were sexually abused.
I have many suspicions for why this happens, but I do still find it strange that this happens in the first place.
Saying that protecting the mental health of MAPs is a good starting point to protecting children is not some kind of threat of harm in response to people being 'kinda mean'.
In almost every single case of intentional harm, and even many cases of unintentional harm, there is some emotional or mental problem that was the cause.
This is also not saying that a person is not responsible for their actions because they are. No matter their mental state, generally, they still chose what they did.
However, it is saying that if we want to more effectively prevent said harm from happening again, protecting mental health is important and productive to that goal.

Then there's these weird fuckin' cat videos where someone always either dies, or gets arrested.
Some of them are pretty normal, mobster breaks in, kills the child, father gets revenge. And some of them feel like a fever dream.
But there was one where uh... I dunno?
The child inflates the mother with air or some shit and makes her fat, so when she wakes up, she inflates the child with helium and sends it to fucking space? Then the child finds its way to a space station, and blows it up. The Dad comes home, breaks the TV, turns it into an iron suit??? Then flies to space, brings the space station back down to earth, then the child and mother get arrested.
If that sounds weird, I assure you, it's weirder.

yea i got hot pretty quickly so I presume it's related to the thermal paste.
That's... Kinda what I was hoping for 'cause I have no clue how to take off the heat sink. Noor do I have thermal paste... Or know how to take it off, though that and apply new paste is probably the easiest parts.
