Looking very seriously at getting a visa to work in the US then applying for a green card. Much better economy, far higher salaries, way lower taxes, and you don't need ID to use Spotify or get arrested for memes.
Recent career boost means my current profession is very high in demand so there's routes to get expedited approval and salaries are $300k+.
I really have no idea why I should stay in the UK if I have the ability to get paid a lot more and taxed a lot less for my skills elsewhere.

I absolutely agree with you. But if the private interests are in favour of deregulation then we have an alignment and that's where my hope comes from.
X, Meta, Apple, Google, etc all have to spend more money and use more resources to comply with this shit. It's in their best interests to lobby against it.
Elon in particular is not shy about using his resources to advance his interests. Which repealing the OSA would do, as it hinders X's reputation as a free speech platform and means he needs to waste money complying with bullshit.
Elon and Farage are already buddies. They had a public spat but Elon does that all the time. Their alignment is obvious. Serves both their interests. Reform has been gassing up Elon calling him a "free speech hero" during all of this. They're obviously signalling to him that they're aligned.
And the end result is good for the people so I call that a win. I don't care what their reasons are, I care about results. Elon makes more billions if it's repealed? Good, that means there's an incentive to actually repeal it.
That's how I'm viewing this.

This bloke is the head of what is now the most popular political party in the UK.
Talk is cheap, ofc, but Farage was debanked himself and got really into Bitcoin afterwards, so this is something that's of personal significance to him.
And best of all, opposition to CBDCs is explicitly in the Reform manifesto. They don't just dislike the idea, they want to pass a law directly prohibiting the creation of any CBDCs.

Afaik they're not killing DMs, they're just replacing them with a built out messaging app that has closer functionality to dedicated messengers, plus end to end encryption.
I only lurk on X really but I think it is a good idea from a business perspective. Competes directly with Meta's Messenger and WhatsApp.

Yes absolutely. But it's always positive to see we have a healthcare system that does the objective scientific research and acts on it even though it's politically risky. That's exactly what the NHS should be doing and I'm glad they stood by the report.
There was a case in the US where a study was conducted on hormone blockers, the results showed they were harmful, so the researchers just didn't release the study.

I know we're all anti-statist here but the more I listen to JD Vance speak the more I like the guy. Don't agree on everything ofc but in general he's well spoken, comes across intelligent, and his views lean more towards individual freedom than most mainstream politicians.
Don't get me wrong he could just be lying about everything. But based on the shit he says, he seems based and definitely knows his shit. And his usual stance on personal decisions is "make laws using democracy and let adults make their own decisions even if they're not the ones I'd make."
Assuming Trump's second term goes well, I'd put good money on JD being the next president. The fact he's not a trillion years old works massively in his favour too.

Been using Grok 3 instead of ChatGPT since writing this and it is so much better it's not even funny. Even after the novelty of it being able to swear etc wears off, it's just straight up a better LLM. Been using it a lot for code and it makes far fewer mistakes than ChatGPT 4o.
Only complaint I have is the image generation. It's total shite for that. Midjourney beats it any day of the week.
But as an actual LLM, Grok 3 is top.

I'd personally trust Grok to help me navigate the info in an unbiased way a lot more than ChatGPT which is a lot more tuned to avoid anything controversial and in the past it's straight up lied to me about shit (e.g. ChatGPT said the Unabomber didn't write anything anti-capitalist in his manifesto... he absolutely did, GPT, you liar).

Getting unbiased summaries of current events or random things you want to look up. Creative writing with swearing and "adult" themes and anything else ChatGPT censors. Even used it as a "no bullshit therapist" and it legit worked super well for that, was like a friend giving me tough love and good advice.
Haven't extensively tested it for things like code yet but I absolutely will.
Also, it gives much longer and detailed answers on the free tier compared to ChatGPT's overly restrictive rate limits on tokens and number of messages. Didn't hit any paywalls.
This could easily change in the future. But if it does, the model is open source.
