some of the assumptions by a couple of them are very biased by their careers and locales but with modification and maybe some voluntary poverty coupled with asset liquidation to get started...
'Shadow' communities structured around watershed and sustainability and mutual support, right alongside and quietly siphoning from capitalism while constructing the communities that will replace the soon to be failed states, currently functioning only for the oligarchs as the world burns.
Oddly hopeful thought.

Just saying: I run firefox with extensions and watch/ listen to YouTube mostly without a hitch, always without ads.
Sometimes when relying on data (so, driving) i do have to switch to on the audio only extension. And when off wifi i can't easily share a video via text.
I put YouTube in the background and listen to whatever i want, while doing what i do.

a form of jury nullification saved my mama from prison, or even death, for something she absolutely did. Given a choice of 3 levels of guilty because 'the facts of the case were not in dispute,' they instead acquited her and she came home to us that very day.
She was a complicated woman but i am so very glad we 6 (later 7) siblings got to stay together and still look out for each other to this day.

so, my AuDHD brain's adaptation to most people's plans is why i love museums so much! I walk fast to what i want to see, then i find a place not *too* in the way, and i look at what i want to look at, read all the placards and enjoy myself. Meet everybody in the cafe while you eat all the cake, and decide what i want to go absorb next :D
That's also why i Hate bass pro shops museum slash aquarium! It's designed like an entertaining queue at disneyworld more than a real aquarium or museum. You are pushed thru in a miserable shuffle, never able to look at anything without feeling like you are holding up the line.

Only problem with the duck duck go browser is it fails to block all the youube garbage. On ff i can still run youtube enhancer and sponsorskip etc
Also, i find it fails to pull up a LOT of results i can find when using ff
But i use it some, and its vpn tho i doubt vpn is of much real use these days

no chrome, but i ingognito is mostly useless to me.
I use extensions that strip off everything they add to shared links, and containize their trackers, and don't save any history or allow any autoplay type features, or even sign in.
It must work bc they nag a LOT to get me more onboard. I wouldn't even see the nagging except sometimes i use other peoples browsers for a moment.
I use ublock origin to block most the nag boxes and overlays

Never use google / #youtube for anything unless you're using a browser that allows you to strip it of its most abusive features. Never assume #google is a force for anything except #capitalism and therefore can only prove harmful to all

#NDAA 2009 was when i quit the Democrat party. It had always been a compromise, Neoliberals are just capitalists who don't want to look mean, but just can't stop harming others for profit.
But, we can slow the roll of capitalism by literally slowing down. If you have to shop, stack your activity by using that time as a worker slowdown. Be nice, but slow. and have lots of things that you don't want after all, once you get to check out.
Don't use self check out unless you have A LOT of things that will need cashier approval.
Don't have you card ready, be kind while you take your time with that, too.
Return things a lot. With receipts and not damaged. But, you know processing returns doesn't create profit...
Use the service (we are paying for it with our lives, after all) and take your time.
Traffic slowdowns are a real expensive thing for capitalism. And slower traffic is safer for everyone.
Win/win.

because capitalism, of course! None of this is harming the bottom line of the folks who make money off dropping bombs and rebuilding after taking advantage of fleeing victims.
The money buys our variety of choices via our viewing habits, where we are fed bullshit that actually percolates into the ear and eyeholes until a certain percentage simply accept it based on repetition, the same way a certain percentage accepted religion.

Because under the status quo our labor, savings, and expenditures make possible this violent thuggery. That is extremely damaging to one's psyche, creating the likelihood that one will end up participating in violence. Not doing things that help kill people is intrinsically better than doing things that help kill people.
