Stuck a zoom nib in a jinhao 82, and am delighted that the feed keeps up. My natural angle isn't low enough for the truly fat lines, but I like how I can easily get skinnier lines by holding it upright, and my natural angle is a juicy bold line.
... Another 82 with a nib costing many times what the pen did.

nah, no cats, I watched it fall and reached to pick it up and couldn't find it.
You know how some people appear to have been cursed at birth with a minor mostly just annoying thing that never works for them? Not ever being able to make a printer work and such. Mine is that things detour through a parallel dimension for a bit before they reappear.

I think maybe finding the right bp meds will fix it. The two I've tried I've reacted to (one anaphylactic, the other one hives and continuous asthma attacks that the inhaler did nothing to fix). Starting a new type tomorrow (hopefully, if it arrives), but it's one that'll take time to get to an effective dose. On the plus side it's supposed to help with immune stuff/allergies, adhd/cognitive stuff as well, so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

welp, my Krita is in Swedish which in itself is a challenge.
The first menu, create a new document, has menu choices in text, but the words are clipped and I can't find a way to see the entire title. Very cryptic and I don't know what those menu choices do.
I clicked create on a random one just to get a file.
I do get a mouseover name on the small icons in the left menu, but I don't know if we are talking about the same menu, and maybe not the same version of the program.

they came with a plastic Vector I bought ten years ago, 5 of each colour of the four. Dunno if they're actually parker inks or someone else made Parker cartridges for the set!

that one came on a big sheet of like 18 so I've sent it to everyone, so that's about the only one I'm certain of. I'm sure I picked out some stuff I thought you'd like in particular but hell if I can recall that far back. I'll be /really/ curious to see your swatches of the inks though and if the pink is UVreactive (I was swatching cartridge inks today by knocking them twice against the swatch card and then swirling with a cocktail stick, and started wondering where that letter was!!)

There's some people who have a papershop, or rather bujo shop, online, but they're in this county, and their impulse control is worse than mine, they're fun! Also they go "uh we've been to a fair we need space here half price off all of these random things!!" so they're my main provider of paper. They don't do fountain pens much at all but have a handful of inks, mostly Herbin. And anyway half price off sale yay! New ink day!

#fountainpen adjacent: I picked up one of the glass nibs advertised for Jinhao 82, and stuck it in one of my franken82s with a transparent cap (so I'll remember that it has a glass nib). I have quite a lot of glass dip pens but I have to admit I'm pleasantly surprised. It looked like it was going to be sharp and scratchy, but what I got was one of the most well tuned glass pens I've had out of the box, smooth and writing well at all angles. I'm used to having to tune them, this was very nice.

I should stop buying orange or yellow fountain pens, because I inevitably put light orange or yellow ink in them to match and those inks tend to be fussy and then I go :( at my new pen.
Yes, I have another orange pen and yes I filled it with a light orange ink I've never used before, before I remembered that I always do this.

It wrote well until I left it untouched for two days over the weekend. Not a mark on the page. A drop of water on the nib and wiping it off was sufficient to restart it, but all those air holes definitely affect the seal negatively. Boo.

Other though: scary that the feed casing for an eyedropper had cracked, that could have become worse than it was (there was ink in the cap but I think it must have been almost empty when it happened).

I have jinhao 82s with a better seal than this. If it wasn't that it writes so smoothly I wouldn't bother. It was advertised as having a good seal!!!

The Prera which I thought did better wasn't just empty because I had used it a lot, there was so much dark and dried ink in the converter and feed, and the grip section is actually blue stained. Arrrrrgh.
Took me a long time to get it clean.

The nib doesn't have a breather hole, but a heart shaped etching in that spot.
I look forward to trying it with other ink, and it'll be interesting to see what the seal is like. If it's good I could see this being a pen in my rotation!

The cap is meant to post, and the heart clicks out when posted. It's a screw cap but slides on for posting. It has antichoke air holes, but there appears to be an inner cap around the nib, it'll be interesting to see what the seal is like.
The ef nib has a very soft feedback, less than a sailor, doesn't feel scratchy at all. It's ef but close to a platinum preppy fine, slightly skinnier than that. The kaco retro has a markedly narrower line.

So I picked up a cheap Kaco First fountain pen, I have several gel pens of the same brand and name and like them.
Thoughts:
It's made of matte plastic, not quite soft but not shiny. Very lightweight pen! Comes in white or black.
It came with a few cartridges, and that's good because the body is very short. I'll have to empty them out and clean them. The ink itself is very black but also very sticky an slow drying, still wet spots a minute later despite the skinny nib.

what might happen is something similar to when they made a single sport in a semitranslucent with shimmer and now many of the store exclusives are that. Hopefully we'll get pink, yellow and purple GITD sports as exlusives from Pen And Tool, Goldspot, and all the others now.

I've heard good things about Kaco Retro, and I do love Kaco gel pens, especially Kaco First (with the popup heart). So when they releared a kaco first fountain pen that's what I got, as well as the new round-ended Jinhao 82 Plus, and a limited edition jinhao 20 with rose gold metal bits, and a BRIGHT yellow (with blue shimmer) Majohn Wancai 2. I am extremely pleased about that yellow color. Only inked the Kaco First, I like it! The heart pops out when the cap is posted, otherwise hidden.

Polar night was extremely pale, it became useful once it had been left in a pen with a questionable seal for a few weeks, but lost the visible chromashading. Erebus crater I quite like, but it doesn't feel unique in my collection.

My prera experiment isn't going too well: I have used it so much it's now empty because of that.
The Platinum BISO seems to have a seal that isn't as expected from a Platinum, but not terrible - a few hard starts I wasn't expecting.

I haven't gotten any of the LotR sets, because space, but yea, if I had a Lego Room or something I'd definitely get them.
If our energy levels ever improve enough to deal with everything, including my untouched moving boxes, we do have a tiny bedroom in the basement that we plan to turn into an overflow library & lego room with space for a single width air mattress for a guest. But the entire chronic illness thing means that's a big maybe that may never happen. Right now it's a box room.

So what are the options for forums nowadays?
Have domains and hosting, would prefer to not have to go that route, but will if the alternatives are bad enough in comparison.
Am trying to make attractive alternative homes for a few discord friend groups where I might have the pull to get them moved, at least if discord starts getting enough worse for them to notice, and I figure if I already have alternatives that might be easier.

I think part of the problem is that there were dice everywhere. I've collected most of them now. I think I have 21 sets of sharps, in addition to a ridiculous number of "regular" ones. Chessex and similar are so cheap I tend to just buy the ones I want when I see them, which results in *gestures*
I sorted out a few more sets that can be gifted anyway. And dumped most of my 20s, and a few whole sets, and the spinner, in the travel case.

One thing I do every january is start a new ink log, just new pages in the same book. My system is to write out date, pen, nib, ink with the pen and ink in question as I fill them, and I try to strike them out as they get empty or cleaned out but I'm only half successful at that part, so a clean ink log with what's actually filled is a good start of the year. I do tend to have a lot of pens inked at the same time, so the log is necessary, or I won't remember. And now it is time!

the nib didn't dry out, it wrote immediately. It could be the ink oxidising. It's why I want to test with an unproblematic ink to be sure.

@npub1hmu…k6rx welp, I filled up the prera with, as I remember it, about half a converter of ink and wrote a little with it, then ignored it over the holidays. The converter was empty, and the ink left in the feed decidedly light brown. I'll do some more sciencing (because yellow inks are finicky too — I'll use a blue ink to test), but preliminary findings points towards subpar cap seal. That was a disappointment, but in line with what you said.

Another good distraction right now is the Daily Spell (word, or rather sentence guessing game that reveals a story), which I am working through from the beginning after a rec from @npub1tcs…5al0 . Doing it chronologically is worth it, both for the continuity in the stories and for picking up on some names and such that are recurring.

I use the large binder clips to hold things open when needed, so I don't have to worry about what kind of binding a book has. That said, most good notebooks seem to open wide without resistance.

I have a project notebook, set up with double sided tables for Ideas and Ongoing, as they fill up I make new tables further out (I use a notebook with page numbers and an index so it doesn't matter). The pages between I use for notes and sketches about said ideas and projects, with space in the table to reference relevant page numbers.

I have seen skinny transparent fridge inserts, so that might be a segment of organisers to look into. Edit: also the long and skinny organisers for cutlery, the ones with each compartment lose so you combine your own.

I use the ikea gärdesgård series, with the drawers (four sets stacked in a cube-shelf) for shorter inks bottles and one of the taller boxes for the ones I have that are too tall to fit. I combine that with some slightly taller, letter sized, older cardboard boxes I have with internal partitions, but the partitions only work well with some brands, and leave unused space with most, so I am shifting to gärdesgård and will repurpose the ones with separators for other craft stuff.

Bag 12: the walls have risen further, and a lighted dressing table has been added. There's coloured windows on one side. I raised another chair.

Bags 3: walls came up, stairs going up (over the loo), pizza baker moved in with all his stuff, and another musician. Tables and chairs in front of the stage. I made my first modification and raised the chairs a bit since the tables are so tall.

my work desk is in the hallway at the top of the stairs, and next to the desk I managed to squeeze in a cupboard/shelf combo (ikea eket), my ink lives there along with a lot of related stuff. But unless we start adding shelves above the tv we are out of space to put things after the dresser gets its shelf companion.

Yea, I will have a dresser that I can use for stuff I am still messing with, and a high shelf for some things I don't want to put away but can handle not being ok obvious display. We might add a shelf above the dresser too.

we did a bit of reorganising and cleared space on top of a row of bookcases, enough for my little street (bookshop/townhouse, and the larger townsquare set, in addition to these two new ones). I have space for one more I think before I have to reorganise again.
