I understand that deriving the Bitcoin key from the Monero key is a limitation, and that deterministic wallets aren’t used; however, I only use the wallet once and then delete it.
The deposit is refunded if the swap is successful.
Honestly, I haven’t come across another service like this one that offers an atomic swap to Monero with no risk of losing your funds and no KYC, often for a 1% fee.
It’s a hassle to have to create a wallet every time, but I think it’s worth it.

Bitcoin is constantly underestimated and I think that even many Bitcoiners or people involved in crypto don’t understand Bitcoin and the different products around it and shitcoins.
For example, XAUt sounds very nice, a token backed by gold, but have you asked yourself what happens if:
- Tether goes bankrupt?
- Tether manipulates its reserves?
Did you know it is a token on the Ethereum network (ERC-20) and it can be confiscated?
This also applies to stablecoins.
Are you willing to put your money there? It doesn’t sound so nice anymore, right?
There is nothing like self-custodied Bitcoin except for self-custodied physical gold, with all the disadvantages that gold has.

It also cracks me up when people say Lightning is difficult – for fuck’s sake, I’ve always been an advocate of making it easy because I’m well aware that people are a bit thick.

These days, all Bitcoiners are extolling the virtues of stablecoins, but with the caveat that “I don’t like them”.
Curious.
What’s even more curious is that I don’t know what benefits they offer, because in some ways they’re worse than selling Bitcoin for fiat currency; in most countries, if you sell Bitcoin to buy a stablecoin and then sell the stablecoin to buy something, the tax authorities treat that as two separate transactions.
Let’s see:
- Stablecoins are confiscable, just like fiat.
- They are traceable, just like fiat.
- Their use triggers more taxable events than fiat, meaning they generate more tax; perhaps that’s why they’re being promoted too.
Please, at what point did this community suffer a collective brain haemorrhage?

The currency devaluation we’ve seen in this decade has been truly staggering, and it’s not over yet.
If most people can’t make ends meet and therefore can’t save, neither gold nor Bitcoin will save you.
The only option for these people is Bitcoin’s circular economy, but this idea has been all but forgotten thanks to Saylor, who, incidentally, is a billionaire.

Linux emerged out of necessity when BSD systems were caught up in the USL (Unix System Laboratories) litigation in the early 1990s.
There is also a great deal of mystique surrounding Linux, the FSF and the GPL licence.
None of these three things have been the best; there are better operating systems, better licensing models and better policies.
To take it a step further, although Linux now has a monopoly on servers, it is by no means objectively the best operating system; indeed, the best operating systems aren’t even open source.
If I had to rank them, based on my experience with commercial Unix systems and Linux in general (because there are many distributions), I would place them as follows:
- z/OS (System z)
- AIX
- FreeBSD
- Solaris
- IRIX
- Linux
- HP-UX
By this I mean that it is true that Linux has triumphed in the world of servers, and that is all very well because it wasn’t Microsoft, but that does not mean that Linux is the best, and fortunately, there are better open-source alternatives.

Linux is a kernel.
Linux distributions bring together many components to create an operating system.
In contrast, the four main flavours of BSD are complete operating systems; from the kernel to the system tools, everything is built by the same team.
- FreeBSD
- OpenBSD
- NetBSD
- DragonFlyBSD
The eldest of the bunch is FreeBSD, and it is pure, unadulterated UNIX, unlike Linux, which is a UNIX clone; in fact, with systemd, it should no longer even be considered a UNIX clone, as it broke with the UNIX philosophy some time ago.
For an IT professional, the first thing you notice when using FreeBSD is its consistency, reliability and excellent documentation compared to Linux.
FreeBSD has always been part of my setups.
