Plus "voting with your dollar" doesn't work. Shopping is not politics. (I think that's a paraphrase from @npub1fdr…lvhs but my memory may be faulty)

From @npub1fdr…lvhs blog post today is a comment related to infosec by way of commentary on spying: "The questions at the time were whether spying could produce security. We weren't asking why things were so insecure." I've been saying this about the infosec industry and our insistence on tackling security by patching, scanning, {mitigation de jur}, instead of tackling the WHY. We tolerate crappy software, systems, unnecessary data collection, etc. and no one holds the creators of this mess accountable, nor tries to prevent this shit from the source.

I have to say something about the "paperback" edition of @npub1fdr…lvhs The Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life After AI. It's a paperback, sure, but there's something satisfying about the physical feel of the book. It seems cushy, or silky. I can't really describe it well. I don't know if the publisher is responsible, but whoever physically printed this deserves a big hell yeah.

Just came in the mail. I know what I'm doing tonight! Thank you @npub1fdr…lvhs !

Fuck everything about this. The regime needs to be ended. Would have been awesome if all the folks around helped them get in. Not arm chair quarterbacking, but I'm just sad they had to leave.

If the source code isn't open, then how can it be free? How can it meet your criteria? I agree with your sentiment in general, but don't conflate free as in beer with free as in freedom.

Yes, it does have android implications.
1. Open Signal.
2. Tap your profile icon.
3. Tap Notifications.
4. Under Show, select “No name or message”.
If using Molly, users can additionally enable database encryption at rest, which encrypts Signal’s local database with a separate passphrase — adding protection against on-device forensic extraction of the app’s own data.

Everyone is comparing our current "situation" with Orwell, Kafka, etc. I think Terry Gilliam's "Brazil", (which has inspiration from those previous authors). Enshittified corporatized public services, and disinformation whipping a weary public into submission. Thankfully we have folks like you as our Harry Tuttles.
