Through whose eyes is Odysseus condemned or redeemed? Through what perspective? Is he a man of his time or a man set against his time?

Both are valid possible depictions, but there must be a context & a contrast. If Odysseus is asking himself whether he did wrong, the question naturally arises "as opposed to what?" Is he feeling condemned by his culture for his violence or is he condemning his culture for its violence?
