This is what marriage to a 12 year old would look like:

"Hey hubby I'm sorry but I forgot how to cook scrambled eggs."
"Which pokemon is your favorite?"
"I ate too much and vomited all over the floor please help me clean it up."

Add in an actual baby to this - and a modern job - and you end up with a truly abhorrent home life. This works if you're tending a farm - so that you can just take off whenever - but any form of work that involves "going to a place and leaving your wife at home for more than 8 hours" is going to make this nightmarish.
