so in my day job I am a software product designer. People ask me to give an example of good UX and I point them to Scrivener. Not because the UI is elegant (it's decidedly cheesy) but because they've understood that the activity of creative writing and the activity of formatting and structuring a document are separate, and better when done independently at the author's discretion. Scrivener gives writers a tool to do both very well, without them getting in each other's way.
