I grew up with my mum having old, garbage cars. with a common issue where the exhaust pipe breaks under the bonnet and then the car proceeds to just gas you. and a super loud, ultra underpowered shitty diesel. I hate it lol.

the ideology part for me is "get energy independence into our vehicles" not needing to import oil
