We have no significant hills or mountains where I am but with the cruise control on the motorway, the instantaneous fuel consumption can go from 999mpg on gentle downhill bits to 30mpg the second the road ticks upward again, you've got an extreme case of that, no doubt

After the latest update they have spaffed a Copilot button in the exact place muscle memory sends me to write a new message
Turn off Copilot (which I had, of course, already done - and which had been turned on again) makes no difference
Force-close and reopen the app, the Coplilot button is still there and the Setting is re-enabled
Evidently bugged by reading reports but 🙄

My car had an OTA software update (thanks, non-optional data connection) and now my fuel gauge is more 'accurate' but with the side-effect that it's top segment goes off sooner than it used to (after about 100 miles before, now after about 50 miles). Fair enough as I typically get about 420 miles from a 40-litre tank
Just what I need, the impression my car is using fuel faster just as the price of petrol goes through the roof 🙄

England and Wales have legally protected Rights Of Way that are paths and routes across the countryside, usually based on historic access rights. The landowners have to allow access and can be prosecuted if they attempt to block. They are also required to maintain them to a certain standard although the local councils are responsible for placing and maintaining bridges, gates and stiles
Yes could be a pain for landowners but most people behave themselves

Proper native ones, too, not the invasive Spanish variety
Would have been nice to get up close but met and got chatting to the landowner and while she was perfectly nice she was very keen I should not leave the path
Seems the grockles are fond of trampling over them to get photos and the native plants take a long while to recover from crushing

similar thing here, the metal had gone between the treads well away from the sidewall
The tyres were new last year 🙄 so plenty of tread left, may have helped matters as the metal would have not gone quite as far in?

Just been shown a spike of metal in the tyre, bloody sod it 😒

I don't know what, if any, legal penalty there is over here but it is highly socially unacceptable not to pick up after your dog
Trouble is, too many owners then sling the poop bag into a nearby bush rather than dispose of it properly 🙄 it's a real problem especially in urban environments

yes, fairly regularly, my iron levels are naturally low and I often have to be secondary tested for Hb when I give blood as they have a high donation bar. If I go to the GP, often as not they will give me a blood test and then say it's OK but there have been cases where they put me on iron supplements

Last thing I left on the car roof was an iPod many years ago, heard it fall off but didn't connect at the time ...
Went back hours later, all I ever found was the case 😢 likely the iPod was smashed instantly anyway, they were hardly heavy duty
Am still glad my car has 'proper' keys that go in the ignition rather than keyless

McVitie's Penguin and Club bars are no longer classed as chocolate after rising cocoa prices led the makers to switch to using other ingredients.

I really liked The Martian but found Project Hail Mary deeply upsetting and disturbing
Think it was the elements of coercion and (let's face it) abuse of the protagonist. The downer ending didn't help either
I tried to give it a second chance and read the book through again but this is one film I'm going to skip
