i was always upfront that i had no intentions for anything serious. even then, they’d say they weren’t either, but still want to go out on dates and bang and become invested. once it became too serious, i was always honorable and would invite them over to tell them to their face (or I’d suggest meeting out for coffee). even back then, 10-digit keypad texting was a common cowardly way to “break up” many of my friends used. but i always did it to their face. years later, i think it would have been better to do it over text - not for me, but for them. then they could tell their friends and my friends i was everything they said i was. easier to emotionally move on from someone you can vilify. whereas when i did it honorably and was always upfront in the beginning, it was much harder to paint me as the bad guy, so i was 100% on stalker-grade ex’s begging to get back together…..the post breakup encounters with the wounded animals were electrifying to say the least.
