apparently I have 674 accounts I'm following, which is too many. I suspect less than half actually post something every day, and a lot are abandoned¹. That's my global list which I occasionally look at, but mostly I check a list of 'friends' who are the people I know best, plus the local social.lol timeline, and both of those are much more manageable.
