I know in our Jira, there is a company wide (not project scoped) list of tags, where anyone can create a new one, even accidentally, by typing in the tag box. This means we have:<li>Technical Debt</li><li>Tech Debt</li><li>technical debt</li><li>tech debt</li><li>Technicl Debt</li><li>Technical Debit</li><li>And most of the above again with random full stops and hyphens.</li>
And I can also never remember which one the project I work on had agreed to use, and neither can anyone else in the project.

My org is considerably bigger, but everyone basically has three, only vaguely connected, role descriptions:<li>Your profile role description: which is normally the most accurate as you can set yourself and in most cases attempts to describe what you actually do.</li><li>Your role description as set in the org chart: set by HR and your manager, changes every 2-3 years, based on obscure rules and normally describes a job somewhat related to what you do, if it was written by someone who doesn't know what you do.</li><li>ERA Stellen- und Aufgabenbeschreibung: This decides your pay. Everyone working in an office is a 'project manager'.</li>

apparently I have 674 accounts I'm following, which is too many. I suspect less than half actually post something every day, and a lot are abandoned¹. That's my global list which I occasionally look at, but mostly I check a list of 'friends' who are the people I know best, plus the local social.lol timeline, and both of those are much more manageable.

I feel we've got used to the idea of global reach and that you're participating in a conversation with millions of people. Except that doesn't work very well, even if a 'global conversation' would seem like the end goal, and then to filter that firehose you need some kind of algorithm that adds its own biased etc.
Here I think it's actually more 'social'; interacting with real people, with the *potential* that anyone globally could join in, but mostly that doesn't happen and it's just you and your friends. And that works much better for people.

That means I could easily buy Automatic Noodle from ebooks.com, download the epub to my 2012 laptop, and load it onto my 2011 ebook reader with a replaced battery, in minutes with zero problems¹.
Nothing unnecessarily thrown into landfill for being too old, using the devices and systems I want, without being locked in or tracked.
Now I'm looking forward to enjoying the story.

yeah, I'm trying to think of examples from my youth which we considered revolutionary. My children will be like "meh Dad, they're just CGI dinosaurs.", while I'm trying to explain how the original Jurassic Park looked so realistic the way the shots and the people interacted with the dinos.

Today's #1001albums is My Generation by The Who, and I feel this is a classic example of something that at the time was considered radical (so much distorted guitar, in 1965!) and now feels like pretty standard indie rock.
It's not *bad*, but it also doesn't seem that amazing, I suspect because I'm used to everything that came later and copied it, and so can't experience how new it sounded at the time.

Today Child A lost a tooth at dinner. I put it into a small pot, which I then overlooked a put straight into the dishwasher, loosing the tooth. Disaster, how will the tooth fairy ever find it!
Luckily I have been collecting Child A's previous lost teeth (because I don't know what to do with them, should they be kept? Which kind of bin to they go into, compostable?). So while A was busy, I went to my secret collection of children's teeth, got another one and placed it into the little envelope we made for posting to the tooth fairy, and now that's under A's pillow, ready for just before I go to bed.
#Parenting is *weird*.

Child A's first wobbly tooth fell out yesterday at nursery, and they didn't even notice! We only spotted the gap in the evening when I was helping them brush their teeth. They were very upset they couldn't leave anything for the #toothfairy , or get a coin for it. But don't worry, #German paperwork to the rescue. I created a mini 'lost tooth' form that we've filled out and put under the pillow instead, I'm sure it'll work out 😉
