Worse, the focus on adding more cores tends to add up more latency when doing regular desktop tasks from what I heard (linked a relevant forum discussion below). This is why I'm skeptical of the thought that Windows 11 on its own is more sluggish than previous versions. Perhaps the software quality really is worse (not surprising from Microsoft these days), but I don't think it's all the software's fault, and newer hardware design could have a share of the blame here.
