The counter-argument against nationalizing elections is that it would make it much easier for a corrupt president to put their thumb on the scale.

Trump had to go state by state in his coup attempt. Putin just has to give the order once and it's done.

But that's not an argument against ending the electoral college so that all votes count, of course. I'm pro-democracy.
