I appreciate all you have said however there have been all kinds of things that should have been done in the last decades to change that. See my reference above to lazy and ignorant. Instead of uniting and fighting for change, people have made choices that keep them at the mercy of these forces. Where were the general strikes when they took away union rights? Americans are huge consumers. They eat up crap like the Kardashians.
