For me, standing outside the system and being a layperson in matters of #taxonomy, especially these examples are an expression of #hubris, of pure #anthropocentrism.
I tend to view this from a philosophical perspective and am appalled by the image of #nature that such researchers may have. We could learn so much from indigenous researchers in matters of respect and appreciation of other species.
And no, these beetles-namers don't have to carry on traditions like that.
