You can try a lot of distros (a variety/version of Linux) online at

When you find one you like, put it on a USB drive and boot from that.

You may need to go into the BIOS at startup to make that work.

This will test that all your hardware works with that distro.

When you remove the USB drive and reboot you will be back in Windows with nothing changed.
