There's this old Finnish measurement of distance, peninkulma. It's about 10 kilometres, and is said to come from the old form of the word dog peni, and kuuluma, the distance you can hear a sound at... So it can be said that it's about a cool 10 kilometres that you could hear the bark of a Finnish Spitz, and this feels very accurate based on every one of them I've met 😅

I and a bunch of friends were staying at a criminally badly run rented forest cottage somewhere in Lapland. Criminally quite literally, it was very negligent and terrible because it was an exploitative and money laundering operation by the local rented cabins and AirBnB mafia!
Eventually someone called the lads on us, and then we were running away through cellars and the snow and such because who knows what they were going to do to us, but the four rough looking men caught up anyway. Two of them had dogs, and they were restless.
Me, suddenly overcome by Presence of Dog: "Oh, sweeties, it's okay! It's okay! Are you rattled because you did such a good job of tracking us and didn't get thanked or treats yet! Good dogs!"
One of the men discreetly and subtly gives his lovely Finnish Spitz some treats from a pocket, dead silent. The other man is also silent, but instead drags his barking German shepherd to his flank by the collar. I instantly deem this first man probably not a bastard and the second man almost certainly a bastard. This second man and his two friends no longer existed to me except as vaguely threatening background noise. Dog!
The rest of my friends then worriedly looked on as I started telling the Spitz what a good dog it was while not trying to touch or get closer, and started asking what its name was and so on.
I swear, I'm even more like this when I'm asleep! 😆

Absolutely infuriated by these Teflon-brained fucking children commenting "sounds like AI wrote that" on any bit of vaguely clever wording of some garden variety thoughts and observations, mostly on YouTube... You undereducated fucking dollops of half formed consciousness! You miserable little baby shits! I've been writing in multiple languages for decades longer than slop machines have existed, and I'm not even someone who spent their lives writing, it doesn't sound like AI, THE AI SOUNDS LIKE US. Ah you bastards. 🙃

4th day using Linux. I've not yet connected my printer, but pretty much everything else I've got... And I'm just doing my usual things without issue, and that's with some slightly niche requirements from my computer.
If I was just browsing, listening to music, doing emails and instant messaging I'd barely notice the difference. If you mostly do only that and are still hesitant, don't be! Sure, have someone help install it for you, but after that you're golden.

Burn test says it's wool and acrylic, with maybe the majority being acrylic... But enough wool in it that it acts like boiled and brushed wool. I am... Seriously trying to fight the urge to make another coat or jacket.

As an outside observer I'd also like to point out that a lot of people spend less time scrolling as their feeds are filled with slightly too much doom to browse for long! So it might just be a concurrent thing, not actually a cause and effect.

It's all sewn down with machine basting stitches now, so it's not perfect nor can be, but you can see the fit well enough to unpick where necessary etc.
Also I've been using a different colour thread for the gathering stitches, the basting, the stay-stitches and the actual stitching. So I can see what the bloody hell line of sewing I'm actually looking at!

Listening to a podcast where they're analysing the transition of a movie series from the 1980s and into the #1990s, and thinking about what a BONKERS decade that was. Sure, the 2020s saw that and cranked the bonkeredness up to eleven, but even as a child I remember multiple things that were just... In context the confluence of all of history up to that point, but seemingly bizarre and unbelievable without it. Just a series of wild shit.

They *could* be composted or recycled, but are not, because it would be expensive and fiddly and require much more work, and there's much more precious and time sensitive things to compost and recycle. It's just a marketing gimmick.
And I'd prefer they'd make some kind of basic cup of coffee at home, with some sweetener and blanching if they so please... And then pick up the fancy thing on their way to wherever they're actually going, instead of driving back and forth while half awake!

And I'm just. Staring into the distance in European. You DRIVE to get COFFEE before putting on your CLOTHES? You can't be bothered to put on clothes because you haven't had your morning coffee but you will DRIVE to a fully another location that isn't YOUR FUCKING HOUSE to get it??? You will operate.
