When MLK was finally shot dead after many arrests, beatings & murder attempts, his approval was just over 30%. It was only after his murder that he became more popular because he was safely dead. Those same people and their descendants are the biggest fans of ICE right now. This very much includes the 25% of GOP voters who aren't white.
