Annoyed when Nolan namechecks his "friend" Guillermo del Toro in Odyssey promo interviews (are they friends or are they Hollywood "friends"?) & says he learned from him that "a monster is never just a monster."
That it sounds to me like when someone is pretending they have some meaningful connection with someone who is well revered, because to say you "learned" such a generic thing from the guy suggests you are neither closely connected to him nor a particular fan of his work.
