Large primaries dilute media coverage. We saw that in 2021, with Andrew Yang getting a disproportionate amount of coverage despite not having a chance. Diluted media combined with a useless general election is how you get Eric Adams. Meanwhile in Seattle, non-RCV (but open primaries) means you get the top two first-past-the-post most popular candidates, and then media and voters can focus on those two candidates. In 2021, it would've allowed us to pick Garcia.
