This is not a purity test, we don't want or need 100% FLOSS or "go away". No, each step, each #FLOSS app that replaces a proprietary app is a win. Just because you/me researched and were able to buy a device with an unlockable bootloader and a custom Android version available does not mean that 3.9 billion users should be abandoned or punished.
