well back in the days when I last used #SailfishOS Alien Dalvik was working pretty well. No idea how much comes from the US (firmware blobs surely), but it did work. With that said, no one is preventing anyone from forking Android and making an European derivative. Or in fact just make a Sailfish competitor, competition is good

checking your hardware, the 5950X is slower and has less RAM than my mini PC, 7800X is probably comparable. Happy to run benchmarks if it helps, again I have a Ryzen 9 7940HS 64GB RAM

portability vs power, I guess you'll have to compromise on one! Have a look here maybe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Ryzen_processors me working in c++ and compiling pretty much everything being it Gentoo, I find my device is fast enough. Full kernel build+install takes less than 10 min for me. I did install a Hynix SSD separately instead of the stock one and extra ram, maybe that helps. Last option is try asking on the #hardware channel on IRC Liberachat, they might better advice there. Good luck!

the advantage of the above vs laptop is no battery (good for airplanes) and more CPU power. Disadvantage is more cables, less mobility. Depending on how often you're going to move and how, a strategy to save space could be to get a cheap Logitech keyboard each time and just throw it away when leaving. Also USB-C to micro USB saves you a cable. And I almost forgot, GL-inet Slate AX router, it can work with the Anker charger but be careful some models powercycle when plugging stuff

oh nationality, that's got some meaning, basically what's written on your passport. Though also kind of pointless since you can have more than one passport. I mean, going by your nationality thing, what if you're a celiac blond Italian, are you not Italian race? Or an American grown up in China for example, what race would he be? it's used on so many contexts its meaning is diluted into whatever. I call "races" the 3 factions you can choose in StarCraft for example. There's a word already to describe cultures which is... cultures. I usually ask "which Country are you from?" Rather than "what race are you?" lol That's funny, imagine someone replying something other than "human" to that question :D "I'm a demon from outer space!" lol

I learned from your past articles about denisovans and I already knew about neanderthal and homo sapiens. That's as close as we get to human "races", which is sad in a way since they're all extinct :/ so if you're talking about present time yes, we're all alone in the hominidae family! interesting but ultimately this will only go the way he planned if contributors stick to his branch. If enough of them switch to a fork that's still under GPL then that fork is DuckStation while the author's version becomes just another dead branch. I mean, nothing is stopping YOU from forking and making everything necessary to make your version closed source, just I doubt that version will ever gain any traction. It happened with Subsonic/Libresonic for example
