I'd rather die than pollute my body with disgusting tech gadgets, no matter how free they are, once you rely on these for your daily livelihood you're not free, they break and fail and leaving you crippled because you can't get shit done without them is dystopia fuel. These ideas have root on the current capitalist consumer culture and it's a big and heavy can of worms I'd rather was thrown as far away as possible. We'll see this happening, and it won't be pretty, even with so-called "open source" replacements that will legitimate the problem further like many disgusting "open source" projects that shouldn't exist in the first place.
