Ah, well depending on the ingredients it may require more oil. In some cases and with some flours up to adding some oil between each pancake/blin. (Not too much because oil absorbs more heat than water so it can lead to overcooking/burning bits of the pancake otherwise. If it's floating on oil there's too much.)
Older "nonstick" pans tend to stick a lot more than everything else when they get damaged (there's also the microfragmentation of teflon & such that I dislike so I prefer to use either ceramic or just plain stainless pans).

"Right to Reputation" is such a stupid legal concept.
A reputation is supposed to be something you deserve. If you *did* the thing and it harms your reputation when people talk about it, you have *no one but yourself* to blame.
It is completely nonsensical to have a right to a good reputation that is *undeserved*.
"It has to be of legitimate public interest", oh my goodness, what a "beautiful" victim-blaming tool for silencing any & all discrimination the judge sympathizes with. Of course it's "not of public interest" that John McDude is a rapist and publicizing that fact is harmful to his reputation. Yeah, given how relevant things like mass civil disobedience and jury nullification have been in various civil rights movements, I don't think relying on the judge having good judgement is a sane position to take.
As for people spreading falsehoods that harm? Defamation and harassment already exist to cover that, there is zero need for unjustified and unjustifiable reputation bullshit.

Wifi is annoying to debug, because the whole notion of interference comes into play (unless you're rural or have no neighbors, I guess).
5Ghz wifi is *somewhat* better about it because it has such weak penetration through mass that cheap walls (it also has a fairly short reach) will practically prevent interference from being a consideration (and will also mean you need an AP a room to have adequate signal).

It's unfortunate that with the ways human brains are inherently broken, it's likely that calling out abusers and the grossly negligent doesn't actually work.
(They might feel affected for some time, and some may actually fix their act based on that, but others will just dismiss any possible learning experience to be perceived by refusing blame for the consequences of their own actions.)
It's certainly satisfying to do, but probably not as effective as long-term psyops.

Hmmm... the main way I could be happy with those retrocomputer projects would require just mostly foregoing the notion of working in RAM and largely just going full-persistent, with RAM being the minimal working-memory.
Without fast persistent storage that would be pretty slow. On the other hand, it would make power fluctuations and such barely do anything as almost no state would ever truly be volatile.

I had previously read through a slideshow presentation of AutoCrypt V2 and live-ranted about the use-cases that AutoCrypt V2's design cut out, which were use-cases I found neat to see DeltaChat incidentally support.
This is a bit more formalized & complete though.
Even with the use-cases greatly curtailed by this centering of priorities, I would still be inclined to use DeltaChat with family & friends in particular with the P2P aspect.
Although the whole "Android goes closed-platform in September 2026" thing that might prove a major issue.
I can provide a WebUI client for XMPP, not so much for DeltaChat without inflicting considerable additional risk surface in the schema (browser, JavaScript & WebRTC/WebSockets/[JMAP](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JSON_Meta_Application_Protocol)? Hello new compromisable client with no particular reason for the users to trust).

It would make for a good memory expansion card in desktops that have considerably fewer memory slots and/or no compatibility with other ECC memory.

This actually ties into another issue I pondered recently (https://udongein.xyz/objects/6ce0987e-e953-4d12-ace2-5990d3ddf422).
This makes it so that we're often stuck with chips that have deep flaws in their design and which microcode patches are often unable to really fix. FPGAs would fix that.
And then there's the timing/power correlation analysis countermeasures that FPGAs would enable and which conventional CPUs mostly can't.

Cheap parts /could/ possibly actually behave within their specs reliabily, which would be fine.
They usually don't though. (Not that there's any real correlation between such reliability and price, corposcum love to scam people with garbage.)
(And so cheap gets colloquially used for "unreliable" or "worthless" without necessarily referring to the price.)

Did no one stop to think for a second of the performance implications of dozens of close-together fsyncs|dsyncs on HDDs?
Also, why in the world so many databases? It's completely unnecessary and even though they *could* be used as attached databases, that means one can only use them in non-WAL mode (yay, blocking readers) to maintain proper global transactionality (https://sqlite.org/lang_attach.html https://sqlite.org/wal.html).
Did they even read the docs before doing this nonsense?

The worst part is that browsers have features for users to set their preferences, and CSS actively supports checking those preferences.
If the site doesn't actively override the color schemes, the browser will even ensure on its own that things follow those preferences.
So they have to actively go out of their way with an override doing it wrong.

Depends on what you mean by atomicity. In reality for serial transfers there is inherently no such thing in the instantaneousness sense without the adoption of transactional semantics & ACKs.
That being said it wouldn't change anything here, as the CPU should block from the user's point of view while those operations aren't completed (essentially the ACK option here).
One case that would require particular attention is hardware mapping & DMA. It obviously doesn't support logical parity mappping, so reliability would be flakier. That's slightly worse than with dedicated ECC memory, I think.

Vector registers seem large-enough to use as scratch buffers. As for where to originally store the data, unless the bus is legitimately ridiculously wide, I'd suggest using serial access patterns (CPU read logical X => read physical X, read physical X + Y, do parity calcs X with Y using some reserved registers, store X in CPU other registers/etc ).
Logically it'd reduce the total usable amount of memory but that seems like an acceptable sacrifice to me.
Non-ECC memory is fairly affordable (even ECC, the expensive parts are the motherboard & CPU classes that support it).
Doing it in CPU would also mean less e-waste when one inevitably realizes that ECC is mandatory if one wants any reliability.

btrfs' handling of downgrades is a *lot* more sensible than ZFS'.
ZFS effectively assumes an unlimited and timely replacement budget. It is also very unfriendly to legacy/subpar hardware and assumes again the budget to have mostly identical drives.

Even with CMR HDDs are the logical addresses even really related to the physical addresses at this point?
A full disk erase probably does it (ignoring bad sector remap overprovision buffer), but anything less seems questionable to me.

I think they might be built with the assumption of SSDs' weight, rather than HDDs.
If it's properly supported or reinforced that's not an issue but worth keeping in mind.
