Do you mean the kind of dualism that exists within each of us... the good wolf/bad wolf scenario? Because I'm okay with that. I don't mind the serpent/devil character as a repository for the evil of man, or the hero archetype as the upward path.
It definitely gets screwed up though, when it descends into tribalism. The Ishmael/Isaac conundrum, for instance, that continues to plague the ME even today. That's bull-scat.
