To add on to your point: and we have evidence that even when things were as hard as living in the Stone Age or as hunter-gatherers, there were still people who chose to be kind!

When it comes down to it, kindness may be hard, but so are bones. Whether we know it in our own lifetimes or not, kindness leaves a record :)
