I might have a convincing perspective on why "modern English" isn't a very good argument.
The KJV is not identical to contemporary English, even at the time of its translation, for a reason. It's written that way on purpose, to be very to precise in subject and tone, and to be self-defining.
It's sort of like a programming language, where English is the basic syntax and vocabulary but it has useful extensions and modifications to suit it's needs, such as ye thee thou etc for very specific direction of speech.
