A lot of Canadians seem to hold this in droves as well. Our history is just as bad, if not worse that the US for genocide, but Canada has this cultivated facade of being the "nice guys" baked into it. People who can't comfortably view it for exactly what it is give away that they have never confronted their attachment to "whiteness" and deep seated nationalism.
