Just sharing some rough practice sketches and scribbles today. This was in preparation for the beaver drawing I shared yesterday.

I had never used those nifty pencil eraser pens before, and wanted to check I knew all the varieties of pencils that I had before I started. It had been a few years since my previous significant drawing, and many years before that… very glad I dusted off my skills beforehand.

I was certainly ready to procrastinate forevermore on drawing the final picture because it was so daunting due to relying on accurately drawn textures rather than easier-to-draw shading and outlines. I had never drawn detailed fur or water ripples before… this seems to be a theme for my art! Why do I do this to myself?! 🤣
