I both like and dislike Ayn Rand. The stories are great, and the philosophical undercurrent does align with mine.
However!
What I don't like is that she portrays objectivism as something new that she created.
In my opinion, it is just a mix of various existing philosophies with a new label on top. So she writes good books, but she is definitely no philosopher.

I think schools will have to improve, and, there will be some kind of apprentice system. Companies hiring mid-level staff will also either have to pay more, or lower their expectations.

I think a post scarcity world, needs to crack the problem of human innate motivation.
If not, a post scarcity world, with enormous amounts of automation will end in violent revolution when the workers want to claw back their source of value.
Some people, are happy from within, and we need to understand why, and how to make more people develop a sense of innate value and motivation.
If not, socialism will come back in the form of "you against the machines".

There would certainly be no 100+ million dead. Russia would case within a few weeks. And Putins closest circle will stab him to death. Only fools believe in Putins nuclear threats.

I think there is some confusion here. When I say EU, I mean EU and all of its members. Its members have 1.3 million soldiers, and they are all sovereign countries. Ergo, they can do a lot, they could have won the war by now.
If EU, the union, cannot do anything it should shut up, and be closed down. It just costs money and has no use or relevance what so ever.

A linux phone might make it better. A PC can be made perfectly safe connecting to the internet. Run linux on it and rejoice.
Firmware level threats are more or less nonsense for regular users.
A phone, even a linux smart phone, is way worse, since it depends on the phone network, so you have no choice but to give away your location if you want to call.
The only way is to go simless and call via wifi.

Let's assume, over time, that the average annual gain is 8%, and that you work for 45 years (given that we live longer). So between age 25 and age 70, 2000 GBP would be invested for you in the stock market at 8% gain.
Over 45 years the total gain would be about 834852 GBP, which would give you a better retirement for the next 30 years than any equivalent government system in the world.
It would also be ethical, since it would not be build upon forcing future generations to pay

I would say that they need to save better and we need to utilize the money better.
A fun thought experiment, is to take the part of your salary that is going toward your retirement. Let's say that each year 2000 GBP goes toward your retirement out of your payroll tax.
Instead of it going into the government pyramid scheme called retirement (which is illegal in the private sector, but not in the public), imagine that it is invested in a no cost index fund in the stock market.

I recommend Jan Narvesons "the libertarian idea" where he uses the assumption that we all want to live, to derive libertarian ethics based on a contractarian approach. Especially section 2 of the book is good. Section one is too theoretical, 2 is great, and 3 is the application of his ideas to various problems such as security, the environment etc.
Contractarianism says that what is ethical, is what rational beings would agree to in a contract (more or less).

This is the truth! At least in scandinavia. At the end of the day, the personal income effects are minimal depending on the left or the right are in power. The reason is that the taxes are revoltingly high already at around 60% or so. There's simply no space for more tax increases without damaging society too much.
The only thing the election decides is which politicians who will become rich on tax money.
I don't vote. I use lawyers and the law to lower my taxes.

It's so strange. When I was young, beign in favour of free speech was completely non-controversial.
Today, when I say I am in favour of free speech, I'm thought to be an extremist and I get asked... what about terrorists, sex abuse, racism, crime.
Absolutely fascinating how something as obvious and good as free speech has become an extremist position in just a decade or so.
Some micronation should really pick up on this and launch themselves as an information haven, just like in the book

Dieing in the street can be ok. The key question is, do they die as socialist wage slaves or as free? I'd rather die free than live as a slave, because without freedom, true happiness can never be possible.
When you say social safety net, what you _really_ say is that you like other people to be forced to work for you, so that you can enjoy life. You are making other people your slaves to fund your life.

Just look at the GDP (ppp) per capita for europe and the US. Better society in the US, no argument against that possible. A few might be worse off in the US, but many are way better off than in europe.
As for people dead, in sweden people are dieing all the time since the socialist health care sector is just full of people waiting in line.
At least in the US you can pay for medical care without dieing in a line somewhere.
