This has turned into a thread...whoops.
There've apparently been efforts to try & address this using Mastodon's existing tools, / by extending Mastodon, from what I've been told, but everything I have heard about doesn't address the fact that the Mastodon client & federated network don't've the structural underpinnings to support these efforts effectively, so the only thing, I think, is to build something independent of the network that distributes power to the people (3/ )
