I recall buying and using a package called something like Borland C/C++ for Windows; they had dropped the "Turbo" monicker and included a lot of printed manuals.

After experimenting with it a little, my employer pressed me into service creating its first Windows-based tools, which we used to create the video game NFL Quarterback Club.
