Not really. Why should parlament be more supporting of freedom restricting laws, than a president?
Currently we can see ICE raids that come clearly from the president. Attacks on the free press directly from the president. Tariffs and wars directly from the president.
Those are all clear decisions of restricting individual freedoms.
