Amazon's algorithm could help buyers & sellers find each other, but that doesn't maximize Bezos' profits. What does is sucking ever more value out of the transaction until there's nothing left for either of them.

No. Commerce is the garb capitalism clothes itself with to hide that it literally only represents the intent money would have if it had any, to gather itself into one big pile.
That's why capitalism also eats capitalists eventually; it doesn't need them. Money can own itself & that's where it will end.
