Same here. I started looking back into Greek history and other histories, the witch burnings, Scientific Revolution, etc. Yes, the male priest class and how close they were to the rulers, kings. Many male philosophers had horrific views about women and animals. And slowly the view of Mother Nature was changed by male priests, philosophers and scientists to a resource that literally could be raped and ravaged. This was seen as modern, scientific thinking.
